The confidential artwork reveals new information that could explain how the Eternals have stayed hidden for so long, and it involves Thanos.

Marvel's Eternals is already one of the most highly-anticipated films this year, and perhaps the most unique one in the MCU's Phase 4 line-up. The studio released the official trailer just last week, giving fans a first look at the godly beings in all their celestial glory. While it was jam-packed with stunning visuals and epic moments, viewers were left with many unanswered questions, and at least one of the answers may be tied to Avengers villain Thanos.

Perhaps the most hotly debated question pertains to the Eternals' absence during the Avengers: Infinity War Saga while Earth's Mightiest Heroes were fighting off all sorts of supernatural threats. The Eternals would have been a big help during those life-or-death battles, so where were they? How have they managed to stay hidden for so long? Well, the answer to that question may be revealed in a recent merchandise leak, which contained an insightful description of their origins.

The merch, which comes in the form of a wall calendar, explains that the group lived on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, which is the same place where Thanos is from. Prior to this information, it was already known that the Eternals were connected to Thanos, particularly through Angelina Jolie's character Thena, who is Thanos' first cousin. In the comics, Thanos is also an Eternal and he possesses the Deviant Syndrome. It could be that Marvel Studios had planned to introduce the rest of the Eternals through him.

The leak adds another link to the chain, suggesting that the Eternals were on Titan observing Earth from a distance, protecting it from the Deviants and "other forms of cosmic evil." With that in mind, the voiceover snippet of Salma Hayek's character Ajak in the Eternals teaser, explaining that the group has "watched and guided" humanity for several years and "have never interfered... until now," makes a lot more sense. Clearly, the Eternals adhere to a rule of non-interference, which explains why they stood idly by while Earth experienced catastrophe after catastrophe.

Still, it's hard to imagine that they decided not to act during Thanos' terrorization, given that they are so closely related to him. Could there be a plan to bring Thanos back for an epic encounter between him and the rest of the group? It's a possibility, but we won't know for sure until we actually see the film. Hopefully, the next trailer for the film reveals more about what we can expect, and whether or not the Mad Titan's origins will be explored.

Eternals is set for theatrical release on November 5, 2021.
