In a move that perhaps some saw coming a mile away, the new Nvidia 3080 Ti, which was announced recently, sells out almost immediately.

It has arguably been a trying time for PC gamers and hardware enthusiasts. Despite AMD's CEO remaining optimistic that stocks of GPUs and other tech would become readily available soon, the certainty of when things like graphics cards will be in regular supply again remains up in the air. While that didn't stop Nvidia from recently unveiling its recent line of GTX cards, namely the 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti which, the former seems to have gone almost as quickly as it arrived.

In a recent report it seems as though, at the very least, the Nvidia 3080 Ti has sold out across the board almost immediately despite the GPU only coming out yesterday. Given the current deficit that the world is experiencing at the moment, these new products have provided a sliver of hope for the industry and consumers alike that they could potentially make up for the lack of availability from other hardware, but it seems as though the market may be back to where it was.

Both the 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti were only announced a few days ago, with their respective prices. While neither GPUs were expected to be as good as the 3090, the 3080 Ti has 12GB GDDR6X, which beats out its 3080 predecessor by 2GB, while the 3070 Ti has 8GB memory, with both cards supporting ray-tracing and DLSS. Prices also revealed that the 3080 Ti would cost just under $1200 with the 3070 equivalent being much cheaper at just under $600.

Given that the low supplies of GPUs and other tech could go on until 2023, partly down to shortages of semiconductors, the selling out of the 3080 Ti is likely to be a big disappointment for those who were looking to get hold of one themselves. However, it's entirely possible that some may not be the least bit surprised. With even new-gen consoles struggling to meet demand, and Nintendo's CEO admitting that the company may struggle to make enough Switch systems in the near future, the last few months have been a tumultuous time for gamers.

The situation has been largely blamed on cryptominers bulk-buying stocks of Nvidia and AMD products to use for mining online currency, leaving few left for those wishing to upgrade their PCs for gaming. Things became so desperate that Nvidia recently considered bringing back the GTX 1080 Ti, a graphics card that is four-years-old at this point, in the hope of plugging the gap in the market. It seems as though even new GPUs being released isn't helping things.
