Picking the right pet in Among Us isn't easy but it's impossible to deny that some are just infinitely cooler than the rest.

Among Us has plenty of options for players who want to stand out from the crowd with a unique look. Colors, hats & outfits are all available for Among Us players who want to look their best when they're tracking down impostors. Killing never goes out of style, after all.

The most fun feature for these players to explore is the pets. These cute little creatures follow players around the levels and serve as an ever-faithful companion as you complete your tasks or murder your fellow players. Even in death, pets remain by your side, refusing to leave the spot where you perished.

11 UFO - An Uncaring Machine

It's unknown what species any of the characters in Among Us are supposed to be, but based on their floating hands and single-bone anatomy, it's safe to assume they're not human. As such, a UFO seems like a perfect fit for these beings.

Sadly, aside from some little flashing lights, this UFO has very little to offer. It floats behind players as they run around, but other than that, it is a fairly characterless pet to have around. As it watches a player's head becomes detached from their body, it flashes some red lights but then just floats there afterward as if nothing happened. Did it ever really care about them at all? At least it won't judge players for any beginner mistakes they may make.

10 Squig - A Meatball With Tentacles

Where did it come from? What does it want? These are questions that should never be answered about the Squig. It's unclear why players would want something that looks like one of Cthulhu's nasal polyps following them around, but the Squig is an option nonetheless.

At the very least, the Squig does seem to care if a player survives, although that may just be because it also dies at the same time. A best friend until the end? Or a parasite feeding on players' life energy until they're cut down? Once again, not a question anyone should ever answer.

9 Robot - Wall-E In Your Pocket

It may be a machine, but someone programmed this one to have a heart. Although the visual design of this pet is rather dull, the animations make up for it and inject the robot with a healthy dose of character.

When a player comes under attack, the robot will become quite alarmed indeed (even if it doesn't try to help) and switches itself into standby mode once the player is dead. There it waits, hoping one day its owner will return to reactivate it.

8 Glitch - Watch Twitch, Get Pet

A pet that can only be unlocked by watching participating channels, the Glitch pet is more than just the Twitch logo. Twitch's logo already has somewhat of a face to it, so injecting character into its design wasn't difficult. Even when it's simply floating along behind the player, it feels like it has a bit of a personality.

Upon a player being killed, the Glitch's eyes will disappear and be replaced with three dots. Could it be typing an obituary? Or just loading? Either way, the Glitch is a fun reward for viewers of certain Twitch channels.

7 Bedcrab - Legally Distinct From Headcrabs

One of the creepier pets, the Bedcrab has a surprising amount of character poured into its very simplistic design. It follows players on a slight delay, moving in a quick and skittish manner. It gives the impression of a bug stalking its prey. Very good if the player is an Impostor, not so much otherwise.

The Bedcrab stands bolt-upright when a player is being killed, almost like it's going to attack the killer. Maybe it does, as after the player drops dead, the Bedcrab also appears to lie dead on the ground. Perhaps it died protecting the player that cared for it so lovingly.

6 Hamster - Can't Escape The Ball

The Hamster is one of the more fun pets to have around in Among Us. Being a real animal (and a real-cute animal) is a definite positive, and the jolly way in which it rolls after the player is a joy to watch, and its idle animation is a nice thing to look out if you're hanging around on the Cameras.

It also has one of the best reactions to seeing a player murdered before their eyes. Rather than standing frozen in fear, it leaps around in its ball. It could be trying to escape or to try and get help, but either way, players can appreciate the proactive mindset.

5 Henry Stickmin - The Referencer Becomes The Referenced

Among Us developers, Innersloth, released The Henry Stickmin Collection in Summer 2020, just as Among Us was about to hit its peak popularity in September 2020. So, naturally, Innersloth had the two games reference each other multiple times. Dolls of the Among Us Crewmates are a hidden collectible in The Henry Stickmin Collection, and Henry himself is a pet in Among Us. As well as the Airship Map, which is also from The Henry Stickmin Collection.

Known for making choices to get him out of a pickle, Henry is far more passive here. However, he still holds all his best characteristics. He bounces along behind players as they walk and isn't afraid to show his emotional side, openly weeping when the player dies.

4 Ellie Rose - Like Henry, But More Competent

Another reference to The Henry Stickmin Collection, Ellie is the primary female character of that game. She could be a friend or a lover or an enemy depending on the choices Henry makes, but regardless of her relationship, she's a certified badass.

She bounds along behind you like Henry and has a far more humorous reaction to the player's murder. Instead of just looking shocked, she instead points at the murderer as if to say "it's him!" as if that wasn't already obvious from them doing the murdering. Then, once it's all over, she just lays on the ground. Is she dead? Has she just given up? Either way, it's a weird response to the situation.

3 Mini Crewmate - A Pet Child

The Mini Crewmate is a pet the community connected with almost immediately. When paired with the Mini Crewmate hat, players feel like they're taking their family on a murder spree. This pet has a cuteness factor through the roof, and the animations to match.

Being frozen in fear as it witnesses its parent get murdered. Following their murder, they just sit on the ground and quietly wait for the round to end. Their lack of facial expressions means players can attribute their own emotions to this reaction. Be it a grief coping mechanism or an unfeeling non-response, it's cute, so who cares?

2 Brainslug - The Cutest Mind-Controlling Parasite

Cute is not a word one would traditionally associate with a Brainslug, and yet, there is no better word to describe it. Being a Futurama reference is a huge benefit, but the following animation is cute too. The way it floats behind the player with its rippling tentacles is cuter than one may expect from that description.

What puts it over the top is the reaction to the player's death. It gazes downward at the floor, and it's drawn in such a way that it seems like the most genuine reaction of any pet. There's some real sadness and mourning behind those eyes that few other pets can manage.

1 Alien Dog - The Cutest In All The Universe

Dogs are cute. They just are. This is a simple fact of life. What's cuter? An animated dog! This one, in particular, has all the cute trimmings players could want from a faithful companion. The one massive eye makes it extremely expressive which adds tonnes to the adorable running animation, where it seems to be having the time of its life.

The good times don't last forever, though. When the player is murdered, their face drops in horror as the action plays out. Then, the murder is done, the dog lays down with an extremely upset impression, mourning its lost owner. Nothing will make an Impostor feel bad about killing someone faster.
