While there are a lot of reasons to keep Pals alive and working on a base in Palworld like defending against raids players don't have to just keep the Pals around just to have. In fact, the game offers a mechanic that allows them to get rid of the Pals and get something useful in return: butchering. This requires the use of the Meat Cleaver item and can be a great way for players to get more resources or even special loot. In fact, some of the game's best weapons can be found with schematics and completely circumvent the need to level up a character to be able to build them.
