Players can decide their Primary Attributes in the character creation portion of Biomutant. Here's what you need to know to build the best character!

Statistical numbers that represent specific traits, such as a character's physical strength or intelligence, are crucial figures made available to the player in most RPG games. Put simply, making certain numerical values higher is a good thing, and one often focuses on doing so in an area they deem interesting, like the aforementioned physical strength or intelligence of a character.

In Biomutant, players can decide their starting stats via the Primary Attributes in the character creation portion of the game's introduction. Each of these represents a core trait of one's character that governs how well the player can perform various actions inside and outside of combat. There are six Primary Attributes in total, and each of them has one or more Secondary Stats that get influenced when players put points into their dominant attribute.

This stat often represents different things depending on the game one plays, as what is considered a character's "vitals" differ depending on the setting. In Biomutant, however, Vitality determines the maximum health of a character as well as how much energy it takes to dodge. This is a strange combination to be sure, mostly due to the latter effect, though, one can summarize that this Primary Attribute is most important for staying alive.

Despite some of what the game implies, the Armor stat is almost solely influenced by the gear that one equips to their character; specifically clothing, though other kinds of gear can also come with Armor-boosting effects. The player's Armor stat directly reduces how much incoming damage is dealt to one's health.

Arguably the most straightforward Primary Attribute to understand, Strength is the stat that melee builds should focus on improving the most. The Strength attribute directly influences how much damage the player does to enemies while wielding melee weapons.

As one would expect, Melee Damage is the numerical representation of how much damage one can potentially do to foes with close-combat strikes. The melee weapon that the player is using heavily influences this as well, however, the higher one's Strength is, the more Melee Damage they will do.

Intellect is a complex Primary Attribute that determines a lot of factors, which makes it somewhat useful to specialize in, even for builds that don't intend to zap everything with lightning. However, those who pick the Psy-Freak class will be the most interested in Intellect because it determines how effective their primary methods of attack will be against enemies.

Furthermore, those who rely heavily on high energy usage should pay attention to this attribute as well, as it affects one's max energy and energy regeneration. To summarize, the Intellect attribute governs how much damage Psi-Powers and Mutations unleash as well as how much max Ki-Energy the player has and how fast it regenerates.

This is the raw damage the player can unload onto adversaries; players with a higher Power stat will deal more damage with their Psi-Powers and Mutation attacks. Those who are intent on slinging bolts of lightning and balls of mucus at hostile targets should look to increase this Secondary Stat by boosting their Intellect.

The Ki-Energy stat is the value that determines how much maximum energy is available to the player. Energy is the resource used for all Psi-Powers, Mutations, as well as dodging, which makes it important to many different builds. It's important never to run out of energy when in combat (or swimming), as this will prevent one from being able to dodge at a potentially crucial moment.

Having a huge pool of energy is great, however, if one cannot recover it in a timely manner, this high value will not be very helpful in protracted battles. Thankfully, pumping points into the Intellect attribute will also increase how quickly this vital resource returns. Normally energy regenerates by itself, though, those with a higher Ki-Energy Regen stat will see their energy return quicker than other builds.

In an open world with tons of choices, dialogue options and stat checks add interesting challenges to non-combat portions of the game. Players will on occasion have chances to persuade others, which is where the Charisma attribute comes in. Players with higher Charisma will have an easier time persuading NPCs in conversation, which is both useful and can lead to funny, less-seen situations.

Being proficient in conversation is a boon when buying and selling goods as well since the Secondary Stat that is known as Barter affects how much Green one gets when selling items to a shop as well as how much items cost to purchase.

When exploring a huge world, transportation and travel time are things to consider if one wishes to get from point to point quicker. Prior to acquiring vehicles and mounts, players will need to rely on their own paws to get them around, and having higher Agility can make things less tedious.

Another important factor in making this attribute higher is that the increased speed of movement can allow one to avoid attacks in combat without having to dodge. For those looking to be swift as a ninja, the Agility Primary Attribute is one to focus on.

As one's Agility increases, so will their Movement Speed, which grants faster movements to the player. With higher values in the Movement Speed Secondary Stat, players will be able to cover ground more quickly in all scenarios.

This Primary Attribute is dedicated to both factors inside and outside of combat. Luck determines how often the player will unleash a critical hit as well as affects their chances of finding better loot. As such, this makes Luck an attribute worth at least partially investing into if one is having a hard time finding good gear or needs a bit more damage potential.

The higher one's Critical Chance, the higher the probability of landing a critical attack. While critical attacks are not something that should be relied upon, they are undeniably useful in doing extra damage to foes at no cost.

Gear is incredibly important in Biomutant, as some of the best weapons and pieces of clothing can only be found randomly while exploring. Increasing one's Loot Chance stat by putting points into the Luck attribute results in better chances to find higher quality loot of rarer tiers.
