Massive creatures lie within the depths, but which one is the largest of them all?

There are thousands of survival games on the market, but one aquatic addition stands above the rest. Subnautica is a water-based survival game that pits players against the dangers of planet 4546B. The game's unique elements and story have granted it worldwide fame and admiration. Every aspect of Subnautica is amazing but by far the most impressive are its creatures.

From the big-eyed peeper to the peculiar Crasquid there is no creature lacking in creativity. While each creature is astounding the most awe-inspiring is the Leviathan Class Organisms. Every one of these creatures is massive with some the size of buses and others the size of skyscrapers. While every Leviathan is huge fans would undoubtedly be surprised at how they compare.

14 Sea Treader (20 Meters)

The Sea Treader Leviathan is the most unique member of its class. While other members of its category swim- or burrow - the Sea Treader walks. Using its two legs and long mouth - not a third leg - it marches along the ocean floor in herds. With each powerful step, the Sea Treader uproots ore from the ground for players to collect.

The Sea Treader is the smallest Leviathan known so far. It measures 20 meters in size which is considerably large. This bottom-dwelling Leviathan is nearly double the size of a bus. Even juvenile Sea Treaders are towering compared to humans. However, when in line with other Leviathans the Sea Treader becomes far less imposing.

13 Glow Whale (30 Meters)

The Glow Whale Leviathan exemplifies planet 4546B's wondrous icy ecosystem. Every aspect from its bioluminescent properties to its harmonious sounds inspires amazement. Witnessing Glow Whales breach the surface or consume schools of fish is astonishing, but players can take it one step further. These majestic creatures will allow players to pet or even ride them for a period.

The Glow Whale is the smallest Leviathan in Subnautica: Below Zero and the thirteenth biggest overall. It is 30 meters in length and considerably broad in size. This fantastical Leviathan is slightly bigger than a basketball court. The Glow Whales massive body even supports barnacles and vegetation. Despite this compared to other Leviathans the Glow Whale is lackluster in size.

12 Chelicerate (40 Meters)

The Chelicerate Leviathan is only a sample of what 4546B's icy waters have to offer and it is horrifying. At first, it is deceptively unimpressive but upon getting closer players will be met with true terror. When attacking the Chelicerate's jaw will split into four mandibles able to grip and swallow prey.

The Chelicerate is the smallest aggressive Leviathan of the series and the twelfth largest of its kind. It is a size of 40 meters with its head making up a third of its length. This petrifying Leviathan is around the size of a smaller commercial airline. Even with its void counterpart, the Chelicerate remains among the less impressive sized Leviathans.

11 Reaper Leviathan (55 Meters)

The Reaper Leviathan remains one of the most notorious Leviathans in the franchise. This harrowing creature acts as a reminder for players to always be cautious when exploring 4546B's sea. Those unfortunate or careless enough to encounter the Reaper Leviathan will face the might of 4546B's infamous killer.

The Reaper Leviathan is the smallest aggressive Leviathan in Subnautica and the eleventh largest of its class. It is 55 meters of pure muscle and murderous intent. This malicious Leviathan is the size of the famous Leaning Tower of Piza. The Reaper Leviathan is large enough to crush vehicles with relative ease. It is one of the deadliest Leviathan's but far from being one of the largest.

10 Shadow Leviathan (60 Meters)

The Shadow Leviathan is among the series most harrowing creatures. Every feature of this Leviathan is meant to induce terror in players. The Shadow Leviathan's slender black body and sharp protrusions are frightening but its mouth is nightmarish. Located on the underside of its body is a glowing ribcage-like mouth.

The Shadow Leviathan is the second-largest aggressive Leviathan of Subnautica: Below Zero and the tenth-largest overall. It is 60 meters in length. This horrific Leviathan is the size of a lower-end soccer field. The Shadow Leviathan is big enough to grab the Seatruck and even swallow it whole. It is one of the most terrifying Leviathans but also one of the smallest.

9 Reefback Leviathan (70 Meters)

The Reefback Leviathans are - if not one of - the most beloved creatures in the entire series. Their peaceful demeanor and great size make them one of Subnautica's greatest wonders. Even seasoned players cannot pass pods of Reefback Leviathans without admiring their majesty. In addition to their astounding presence, the Reefback Leviathans hold a mini-ecosystem on their shell.

The Reefback Leviathan is the largest passive Leviathan in Subnautica and the ninth-largest of its class. It is a stocky creature that is 70 meters in length. This peaceful Leviathan is the size of the world's largest cargo plane. Adult Reefback Leviathans have no predators due to their massive size. Despite its amazing size, it is among the smallest Leviathans in the series.

8 Ice Worm (95 Meters)

The Ice Worm Leviathan is the only member of its class to be entirely land-based. Instead, this massive creature burrows through the freezing ice shelves of 4546B. The Ice Worm uses its super-heated horn to drill through the planet’s ice near effortlessly. Using this ability, it can ambush prey above the ice within seconds. The only way to evade the Ice Worm is by using a Thumper which will temporarily distract it.

The Ice Worm is the largest aggressive Leviathan in Subnautica: Below Zero and the eighth largest of its kind. It is an elongated creature that is 95 meters in length. This subterranean Leviathan is about the size of the famous Big Ben Clocktower. Its burrows are large enough to allow things such as the Prawn Suit through with ease. The Ice Worm is among the biggest Leviathans but it is still dwarfed by some

7 Ghost Leviathan (107 Meters)

The Ghost Leviathan is often regarded as one of the most terrifying Leviathans. Its translucent and luminous appearance makes it a supernatural-like creature of 4546B's seas. Its transparent skin alone is scary but what lies beneath is much worse. Upon close observation, players will note that the Ghost Leviathan has a formidable musculature underneath.

The Ghost Leviathan is the third-largest aggressive Leviathan and the seventh biggest overall. Its clear and slender body is 107 meters in length. This ghostly Leviathan is nearly the size of a football field. It can easily destroy the submarine making it a considerable threat. The Ghost Leviathan is considered one of the larger members of its class, but it is far from the biggest.

6 Ventgarden (110 Meters)

The Ventgarden Leviathan is a remarkable example of symbiosis on planet 4546B. It cooperates with 4546B's plant life to survive off a thermal vent alone. The Ventgarden's transparent bell functions as a shelter for flora from herbivores. In turn, the plants help the Leviathan absorb various metals and gases released from the thermal vent.

The Ventgarden is the largest passive Leviathan of the franchise and the sixth biggest of its class. It towers over at a height of 110 meters. This plant nursery-like Leviathan is only slightly bigger than the Ghost Leviathan. It is large enough for players to enter it and explore. The Ventgarden is one the largest Leviathans in existence with only a few greater in size.

5 Sea Dragon (112 Meters)

The Sea Dragon Leviathan is by far the most devastating creature in Subnautica second only to the Sea Emperor. The ability to destroy precursor facilities and shoot fireballs makes this Leviathan a catastrophic force. The Sea Dragon is large and powerful enough to hunt the seemingly insurmountable Reaper Leviathans for food.

The Sea Dragon is the second largest aggressive Leviathan and the fifth-biggest overall. When fully grown it can reach a length of 112 meters. This fiery Leviathan is only slightly bigger than the Ventagarden Leviathan. Its size allows it to deal with any threat including the player and their vehicles. The Sea Dragon is one of the biggest Leviathans but not among the top three.

4 Frozen Leviathan (150 Meters)

The Frozen Leviathan is an unidentified extinct creature frozen in 4546B's icy waters. This ginormous creature fell into the ice over a thousand years ago and is presumed to be dead. While it has been studied intensively by Alterra not much is known about the Frozen Leviathan. However, it is certainly one of 4546B's largest creatures to ever live.

The Frozen Leviathan is the third-largest extinct Leviathan and the fourth biggest overall. Its body alone is 70 meters but including its tail, it is 150. The Frozen Leviathan is bigger than the Great Pyramid of Giza.  The Frozen Leviathan's species is presumed dead due to the current unsuitable environment of the planet's sea.

3 Sea Emperor (200 Meters)

The Sea Emperor is a near-extinct species of Leviathans. The Kharaa bacterium killed off the Sea Emperor's food source, resulting in the death of almost every Sea Emperor. Due to its immunity to the Kharaa infection, the last known Sea Emperor was captured by the Precursors in hopes to find a cure. In Subnautica players can interact with the Sea Emperor and help it hatch its eggs.

The Sea Emperor is the largest living Leviathan seen on planet 4546B, but the third biggest overall. It is a colossal beast that is 200 meters in length. The Sea Emperor's massive size easily dwarfs any living creature on 4546B. However, the planet's oceans no longer support titanic organisms such as the Sea Emperor making its species survival unlikely.

2 Ancient Skeleton (Unknown)

The Ancient Skeleton is among the few extinct creatures known on planet 4546B. This armored Leviathan's skeleton was of much interest to the Precursors. Many details including why it was being studied are unknown to the player. Despite this, it is possibly one of the biggest creatures to have ever existed on planet 4546B.

The Ancient Skeleton's placing is uncertain, but it is at least bigger than the Sea Emperor. Its skeleton reveals 95 meters of its body however it is projected to be much bigger. The Ancient Skeleton is predicted to be larger than any living creature currently on 4546B.  While its size is undetermined there is no chance that it is bigger than the largest Leviathan ever known.

1 Gargantuan Fossil Leviathan (1100-1500 Meters)

The Gargantuan Fossil is one of the few extinct Leviathan's seen on planet 4546B. Not much is known about the Leviathan making it a target of Precursor study and the player's interest. However, the only information gathered on the Gargantuan Fossil is that it was eel-like and that the area around it shifted. One certainty is that it is the largest known Leviathan to have ever existed on planet 4546B.

The Gargantuan Fossil's head alone easily surpasses the size of 7 Leviathans. In total this enormous creature is anywhere from 1100 to 1500 meters in length. To put it in perspective the Gargantuan Fossil is 672 meters bigger than the world's tallest building. It is unlikely that any other creature to have existed on 4546B is larger than the Gargantuan Fossil which is probably for the best.
