Some recent nerfs in Destiny 2 have reignited tensions among players as many feel that Bungie has started going to far when trying to rebalance some classes and subclasses across all areas of the game. Most notably, players have been struggling to agree with nerfs to Destiny 2's Stasis subclasses even prompting Bungie developers to respond to criticisms as the discussion gains traction online.
This most recent acknowledgement by Bungie comes in relation to recent nerfs to the Titan's Stasis subclass known as Behemoth in Destiny 2, which aimed to balance mobility in PvP. Some players on Reddit are concerned that this rebalance could make the Behemoth unusable in the game's standard PvE modes, eliminating the whole purpose of introducing a new subclass for Titans.

In response to this criticism, Sandbox Discipline Lead Kevin "Tocom" Yanes acknowledged that the change in Behemoth mobility is currently on Bungie's radar after the recent nerf. What exactly this means for future updates is unclear, but players can at least rest assured that Bungie is aware of the issue and how the nerfs are impacting gameplay outside of the intended scope. It may be some time before players or the developer sees if the new rebalancing brings Destiny 2's Stasis subclasses into their original vision as a hard counter for overly aggressive playstyles in the Crucible.
Fans quickly began to rally around Yanes' comment, hoping that this discrepancy in the way that altering the sandbox for PvP affects the gameplay in PvE will lead Bungie to separating the two. Even the original poster acknowledged that the nerf was a net positive for Destiny 2's Crucible, though it has come at the cost of almost completely removing the utility of Stasis for Titans in other areas of the game. So, as suggested by the somewhat cryptic "Yep, this is something on our radar" response, there might be more nuance behind the scenes that will require further testing before Bungie can move forward with another rebalance.
These recent nerfs to Stasis aren't the first time that Bungie has received this type of criticism about a focus on the Crucible causing players to feel weaker or miss out on popular gameplay styles in PvE experiences. In fact, that conversation has persisted ever since the first round of beta testing for Destiny 2 opened up with a strong showing for balance in PvP, but players feeling drastically weakened against AI opponents. It's pushed some players to look for the strongest loadouts in Destiny 2 in order to get through raids and other high-level content, all while making casual play feel less rewarding as more abilities get nerfed.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
