Automaton is a mechanic in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom that you can unlock after you've met Dampe. After helping with Dampe's first side quest, you can start three quests to get more automatons. "Performance Artist!" will unlock a robotic monster called a Gizmol. It may not be as useful in combat as the level 3 Echoes you can Learn, but you'll need Gizmol for a later side quest. If you're looking to add more heart containers in Echoes of Wisdom, then you'll want to complete "Performance Artist!" at some point in your playthrough.
