Industry insiders share a suspicious conversation on social media that looks a lot like a hint about Dead Space making a return.

Dead Space isn't necessarily a franchise that many gamers were expecting to hear about with relation to June's biggest gaming events. Yet, it's quickly become one of the more exciting topics of speculation with less than a week to go before the Summer Game Fest and E3 2021 begin. The discourse stems from an odd post and reply between insiders on Twitter, in which the two talked about how it would be "PRETTY COOL" if Dead Space came back with either remasters or a sequel.

The conversation occurred on Twitter between Xbox Era's Shpeshal Nick and Windows Central's Jez Corden, both known for sharing leaks and insider info from time to time. Shpeshal Nick posted that they've been thinking about Dead Space and that they think it "has a chance of coming back," either as remasters for the original trilogy or as a sequel. On its own, it's a relatively innocuous tweet. Many video game fans think about Dead Space, too, from time to time.

It's Jez Corden's response that sets off a lot of flags. Corden's response to Shpeshal Nick says, in capital letters, that it would be "PRETTY COOL" if Dead Space remasters or a sequel happened. He'd continue, saying, "You know. If it was ACTUALLY HAPPENING MAYBE? That would be PRETTY COOL." Suffice to say, Corden's Twitter post is very clearly is intended to draw attention, to imply something more without being explicit. The question is whether or not Corden is joking or whether he's genuinely hinting at something.

In Shpeshal Nick's case, he believes Corden is trolling. He's posted a gif of a man looking hatefully at his phone, as well as a different message saying that he keeps telling people "Jez doesn't like me." Corden also hints that he's trolling, replying with a gif of the Snow White witch cackling as she goes into a trapdoor in the floor and a message reading, "When I ruin @Shpeshul_Nick's tweets."

There's definitely an element of trolling on Corden's part going on, but that doesn't necessarily mean that what he's saying isn't also a leak. It's one thing to hint at false information in a friend's replies, but something all the more hilarious if he's hinting at a big Dead Space announcement that's actually going to happen. Corden's comments seem capable of both options.

For the time being, it's best to take Corden's hints with a huge grain of salt. There's no other information available implying that a Dead Space trilogy remaster or a Dead Space 4 is in development. There's also no reason to believe that if either Dead Space product is in the works that Electronic Arts would share this June. But if EA did want to announce such a thing, it could happen at EA's planned July 22 EA Play Live event.

Dead Space released in 2008 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
