A large portion of the versatile Biogenetic Mutations are meant specifically for combat, but a few can be quite handy in getting around as well!

Choosing how to evolve one's character in Biomutant is about more than just the stats, as this novel and unpredictable game allows a player's upgrade choices to affect how their character physically changes. This is an interesting and immersive quality that makes using some of the powerful Mutations feel natural as well as impressive.

Mutations are classified into two groups: Biogenetic and Psi-Powers, the former revolving around nature-based maneuvers and the latter taking advantage of the elements. While the Psi-Powers can be devastating, they are meant more for the Psi-Freak class and require Psi Points to unlock, however, Biogenetic Mutations are more available to a greater variety of builds thanks to requiring the plentiful Bio Points to unlock that can be gathered around the New World.

A large portion of the versatile Biogenetic Mutations are meant specifically for combat, but a few can be quite handy in getting around as well, so be sure to spend Bio Points wisely and unlock the ones that seem the most fun. There are 8 in total, each with vastly different uses, though all have solid potential in certain circumstances.

As one can probably glean from the name of this Biogenetic Mutation, it allows players to spew green, glowing, hypnotic moths from their mouth in whatever direction they are facing. These belch-birthed bugs will fly in an unsteady linear pattern at the foes before the player.

When the insects hit their mark, they will confuse enemies into attacking each other instead of the player. This not only makes them hurt one another but also stops them from attacking the player for a time. Mothmouth is an excellent power to use against swarms of smaller enemies, though it does not work on larger adversaries.

If direct damage is more one's style of mouth-spewed attacks, be sure to check out the Vile Bile Mutation. It grants the player the power to unleash a jet of caustic acid that hurts everyone it touches and also leaves behind a fuming pool of putrid pus that lingers for a few seconds.

Conversely to the Mothmouth Mutation, Vile Bile is better used on larger, slower-moving enemies, as the acid pool takes advantage of heftier hostiles not being able to get out of it as quickly.

Summoning an exceptionally springy mushroom isn't the first thing that comes to mind when one considers which Biogenetic Mutations are the best to use in battle, however, not everything in Biomutant is about combat; some aspects are meant to add some fun into traveling the vivid New World.

The Fungi Mutation lets the player essentially create a trampoline wherever they want that can let them reach new heights which jumping cannot. However, for those who are intent on making this power into a weapon, the springy shroom can also be summoned beneath smaller enemies to send them flying.

This Biogenetic Mutation is one that pairs very well with some Psi-Powers, as Rad Wisps do Radioactive-type damage to enemies. This can help get around an enemy's natural resistance to physical attacks, which would be useful to any build, but being able to stack Radioactive damage with one's electric and fire attacks as a Psi-Freak can be overpowered in most cases.

Rad wisps shoot out a volley of purple particles that zoom forth in a light show barrage to assail adversaries. This can be a great ranged attack if one has put enough points into the Intellect Attribute for sufficient Power.

As opposed to many other Biogenetic Mutations, Storm Hop is one that can only be used from the air, as one needs to plummet downward and smash into the ground to unleash the shockwave of green energy granted by this maneuver. This can be accomplished by jumping prior to using Storm Hop, however, there are a few other ways to use it.

Using Storm Hop on unsuspecting enemies while dropping in on them from above can be an excellent way to start an attack. Furthermore, combining this Mutation with Fungi can let one repeatedly unleash Storm Hops in quicker succession and from greater heights than jumping would allow.

Despite sounding absolutely disgusting, Mucus Bubble can be a great tool for crowd control. When used, this Mutation creates a bubble all around the player, which moves with them as they walk and jump. Small and medium-sized foes will get trapped in the sticky membrane, though large enemies will be unaffected.

When stuck, trapped foes will not be able to move or attack until the player releases them. This can let gamers utilize Mucus Bubble to stop a few foes from attacking, use their bodies as shields against incoming fire, and even drag them into tar pits or other environmental hazards.

Being able to punch people from further away than usual can be immensely useful in battle, particularly if one can do so with an earthen fist that rises from the ground directly beneath targets.

The initial hit smashes the foe with a lot of physical damage, but players can also follow up these pummeling rock punches with airborne melee attacks against targets that are launched skyward.

Contrary to what the name of this Biogenetic Mutation implies, this is the best method of traveling quickly down a sloped area without vehicles or one of the many mounts. When used, the Turtleform Mutation will cause the player to sprout a carapace upon their back, which they will use to slide down any sloping surface with very little resistance.

Albeit a fun mode of transport in many locations, this non-aggressive Mutation can still be used in combat. For example, upon approaching a group of enemies at the base of a hill, players can use Turtleform to gain a ton of speed before slamming into unaware foes to initiate combat with a sudden sneak attack.
