Some gamers like to play on their own terms. If you love to play Genshin Impact in solo mode, keep these tips in mind as you explore Teyvat.

There's an extreme amount of content in Genshin Impact, leaving fans of the game rarely bored. All in all, it's much more than any player could complete in co-op mode alone. That said, most players will complete the vast majority of content in the game's solo mode.

A lot of players in the community believe that they have playing solo mode figured out. Yet, there are a lot of small tricks and tips that people tend to forget about when playing through the game. From composing the player's team well to food management, here's how to best fly solo.

10 Compose Your Team Well And Often

Team management is half the game in Genshin Impact, so it's only natural that players are going to want to pay close attention to how they build their team. Whether setting up elemental reactions or including a good exploration character, every little detail needs to be taken into account.

That said, many players forget to change their team setups over time. Like many things, the world of Genshin Impact is constantly changing. Players will pull new characters, enemies will change elements, even the landscape needs to be considered. Players will find that adapting their teams to the environment will make them more prepared to play alone.

9 Make A Lot Of Food

Using food in solo mode is very different than using food in multiplayer. While multiplayer teams can rely on a set healer to constantly heal during the battle, solo players need to play multiple roles at once. This means that the player is going to take more damage and more often.

It's unfortunate when the player comes to the end of a difficult boss fight, only to run out of food and be demolished. For newer players, stacking up on food isn't obvious, but it's better to be overly cautious than sorry when it matters.

8 Choose Food Carefully

Food management in Genshin Impact is more than cooking as much food as possible. There is a diverse set of dishes around Teyvat (many of which are just as delicious in real life), all of which have unique properties. When facing an opponent with high resistance, an attack-boosting dish may be better than constantly having to recover health.

Food can make the difference between facing "game over" in a hard boss battle and surviving to live another day. Having a hefty supply of recovery and revival dishes is especially essential in the early game, where the player may lack an adequately built healer.

7 Don't Forget About Talents

"Upgrading talents is important," many veteran players will tout off to newer members of the Genshin Impact community. There is merit in what these veterans say, especially with common characters like Bennett.

Talents are the powers backing each character, the stat that adds an entirely new increase in damage output. Too often, players neglect to upgrade their talents, leading to measly damage and mastery that makes harder bosses impossible to defeat.

6 Pay Attention To Artifacts

Like talents, artifacts make a large difference in combat. Talents are directly related to a character's skills, but artifacts offer an entirely different world of variability. Because artifacts increase a character's stats, they can make up for deficiencies in areas like energy recharge, attack and defense, and even crit rate and damage.

This is especially important to keep in mind during solo mode. Unlike in co-op mode, a player's team composition is set in stone in solo mode. This allows the player to plan out a team's artifacts to complement each other. Building for healers, DPS, and support characters separately makes for an easier time in battle.

5 Collect Everything

Items can appear to be a non-problem in Genshin Impact. After all, most specialties are easy to collect and more than abundant. That is, until the player runs out of apples or dandelions (or even sweet flowers) when they need them, only to find that they aren't as abundant as they seem.

Solo players need to find value in collecting everything they see. Resources make the player king, and are the number one way to get out of a pinch really quickly. Nobody wants spend hours on end grinding to find items, so why not start early?

4 Practice Switching Characters

Tactics are everything in Genshin Impact, everybody knows that. But new players may find the fast-paced nature of combat a little surprising. It can be hard to set up elemental reactions if the player panics under the fire of several archers.

Practicing switching between team members can make a world of difference. Quickly changing from an enabler or support to a DPS will make the tides of battle fall on the player's side. This can make even the most difficult bosses easier to beat. A good tip for mobile players is to tap the character's burst on the swap menu, automatically swapping to that character and initiating an attack at the same time.

3 Keep A Pyro & Geo On Hand

Genshin Impact is an adventure game at its core. That said, there's more to setting up a team than just combat, with puzzles sprawling the vast landscape of Teyvat. Having a well-rounded team will be most beneficial, with every element being a puzzle solution somewhere.

This isn't always possible with a small team of four characters. However, half of the puzzles in Teyvat can be solved with a Pyro or Geo character. Fire torches are the most infamous (with many fans calling Amber a lighter for this exact purpose), but pressure plates are also common.

2 Character Size Matters

Character size isn't often considered when choosing characters in Genshin Impact. Yet, this is a major mistake for players that find themselves traveling long distances in solo mode. Smaller characters are the best at avoiding obstacles in domains, while larger characters are faster at running and climbing.

There are special cases, of course. For example, Lisa isn't particularly fast when compared to other characters. Xiao and Mona are just the opposite, being the fastest in the air and water respectively. Generally speaking, however, having a good mix of smaller and larger characters will yield the best exploration experience.

1 Being Well-Rounded Is Key

This might seem redundant, but it is a good rule of thumb if fans are unsure about how to proceed in Genshin Impact. Some of the highest tiered entries in the Genshin Impact roster are characters that specialize in multiple areas; for example, Noelle, who can act as both a healer and a DPS.

The same goes for building a player's character. If the player finds themselves having difficulty deciding between one build and another, it's often better to just build for both by planning artifacts and talents smartly.
