Glowing rods can be an important item in Remnant From The Ashes. Here's where you can find them and what they're used for.

One of the most confusing armor sets to unlock is the Akari set. Players understand that to get the set, they will need three glowing rods. However, the rods are notoriously difficult to find for a couple of reasons. Dungeons are procedurally generated in Remnant From The Ashes.

This means that enemies and items will spawn in different locations throughout the dungeons. What makes it even more frustrating is the fact that the Glowing Rods can spawn at any of the dungeons in Rhom. Unfortunately, the only way to find the Glowing Rods is via the method explained below.

Getting these elusive glowing items will take some time. Players will essentially have to clear all of Rhom to find all three. This means that the Rods can be in any nook and cranny in every dungeon. The completely randomized system means that finding the rods in one roll requires patience and persistence. If gamers find one of the rods, the other two will be found in two other separate Rhom dungeons.

It is really annoying that all of the items are in different random locations, but it certainly makes finding the Rods more challenging. Additionally, it prevents people from taking shortcuts by reading guides like these. While that may preserve the experience intended by the developers, it will force players to spend quite some time grinding and searching. There are a  total of eleven dungeons, so it is a good idea to take a look at the benefits of the set before committing to that many playthroughs. After much toil, all three will be found in a single roll.

Ever since adventure mode was added, re-rolling individual worlds will not affect campaign progression. This allows players to go back and find those forsaken rods after playing through Rohm. As mentioned, every roll will have all three rods if the dungeons are diligently searched.

Once all three rods have been acquired, gamers will need to re-visit the Vault of Herald. There, people will remember seeing a room with three locked doors. Each rod unlocks one of the doors, which contain one of the three Akari Armor pieces. From left to right, the doors contain the headpiece, chest piece, and leggings. Ideally, Vault of the Herald will be an early random dungeon so that people can return to it once they find the final rod. It seems that the developers wanted to incentivize exploring absolutely everything in Rhom, so its probably good for players to not get their hopes up.

The Akari set provides unique semi-passive and active abilities when worn. Principally, Perfect Dodges increase Firing, Melee, Reload, and Evade Speed for 20 seconds. Additionally, the set provides a contingent speed boost depending on the number of Araki pieces the character is wearing.

  • Active: Perfect Dodging increases Firing, Melee, Reload, and Evade Speed for 20 seconds. Slightly increases Evade Window.
  • Passive: Increases the above speed from 7.5 - 30% depending on the number of pieces worn
  • Weight: 20
  • Armor: 38-376
  • Resistances: Bleed, Radiation, Corrosion, Frost
  • Weaknesses: Burn, Rot, Shock

For all of the effort put in, the effects of the armor should be incredible. Sadly, that is just not the case. While the benefits are great when a perfect dodge is performed, the passive traits provide no boost without a perfect dodge. Most of the better sets in the game provide a passive benefit that always provides a slight improvement when equipped. For example, health regen or movement speed bonus. The Akari Set does not provide such an effect, and the description is quite deceiving.

Reading the description of the set, one may assume that the speed boost applies to movement speed. However, it only applies to the firing, melee, reload, and evade speed boosts. What further limits the set is the lack of a perfect dodge indicator. Having a sound or notification would make executing a perfect dodge far easier. Instead, people just have to guess if they are doing it correctly and try to notice a difference in-game. A 30% bonus is usually noticeable, but it would be a lot better to know outright how well the dodge was performed.

To improve the underwhelming abilities of the set, the Ring of Evasion can be used to increase the evade window. The ring increases evade speed by 10% as well, stacking with the Akari set. Gamers will have a few more seconds to evade, and they will evade 10% faster. It is possible to equip two of these rings, making the set viable if used correctly.
