Destiny 2 Hunters may have a new DPS option available to them for the Vault of Glass boss fight against Atheon, rivaling the Celestial Nighthawk.

Destiny 2’s Vault of Glass has been in the game long enough that many Guardians have multiple clears of the raid. While many people have solidified their Atheon strategies, there is one DPS strategy that Guardians should not overlook in Destiny 2.

For the longest time, the go-to DPS option for Hunters has been a Golden Gun paired with the Celestial Nighthawk. The one-shot burst damage of Celestial Nighthawk has been unmatched for years. However, with the Vault of Glass raid, Celestial Nighthawk may no longer be the only option Hunters have.

Hunters may think that this is going to cover the new Destiny 2 Star-Eater Scales, but because of the difficultly of collecting enough Orbs of Power to maximize Star-Eater Scales, they are not really that great for boss DPS and are easily outclassed by the ease of use of Celestial Nighthawk. Instead, an older Exotic may have just become the best DPS option for Hunters at the Atheon boss fight in the Vault of Glass.

Shards of Galanor, the Exotic Hunter Gauntlets, work together with the Time’s Vengeance Buff given to Guardians while damaging Atheon. What this means is that Hunters will benefit greatly from the increased ability regeneration from Time’s Vengeance, allowing Hunters to spam their Blade Barrage Super repeatedly during the damage phase, getting as many as seven Supers or more in a row.

How this works is quite simple, and does not require any special builds outside of just having the Destiny 2 Shards of Galanor. The Exotic Trait, Sharp Edges, will return Super energy based on the number of hits and kills the Super does. This means that Hunters can pair this returned Super energy with the Times Vengeance buff to instantly get their Super back after using it. The only downside is that Hunters need to make sure that all the knives from the Super hit Atheon. If Hunters miss part of their volley, they will not get all of their Super back.

Done correctly, Hunters will use only their Super for the damage phase, though throwing a couple of Anarchy bolts onto Atheon for background DPS is recommended. If Hunters want to give a little more forgiveness to their build, they can opt to run a Charged with Light Elemental Converter build, throwing their grenade immediately after their Super to give an immediate burst to their Super energy, however this is not required.

Hunters using this setup can expect to rival the damage of Celestial Nighthawk and the Titan's Cuirass of the Falling Star, including their weapon damage. While it takes more Supers, the end result is an easy-to-use damage strategy that does not require any extra Orbs of Power. The most difficult part of using this build is just making sure the Super hits its target. Because of this, it is recommended that Hunters bring their typical DPS weapons in case they miss some of their Blade Barrages.
