With six playable breeds in Biomutant, players need to weigh the pros and cons behind which one they should choose.

Biomutant has been out for a while now and there are a lot of great things about it, including the combat system and the beautiful world that many players want to explore. One of the best things about the new open-world game is how much players are able to customize the character they play as, giving them a lot of different options that change how powerful they are from the beginning of their playthrough.

One of the first things players will have to do is decide which breed they want to be. There are six breeds in total, all of which slightly change the vitality, strength, intellect, agility, charisma, and luck of the character. Some are certainly stronger than others so players should make sure to choose their breed wisely.

6 The Primal Breed Is Good At A Distance But Not Up Close

Along with showing the starting stats, the game gives a short description of each breed. Biomutant states "Primal is a nimble developed anthropomorphic breed. A hybrid with a gene mutation making them nimble and dexterous at the cost of a lesser developed intellect."

Despite being the most popular breed in the game due to its advertisement, the Primal isn't actually that good. They are skilled at fighting from a far distance but aren't too strong when it comes to melee damage. They also don't have a lot of vitality or intellect but have the best critical chance at 4%. The Primal is only a good choice for players that prefer to stay away from their enemies.

  • Pros: Good at fighting from a distance.
  • Cons: Lacks decent melee damage.

5 The Hyla Breed Has The Best Vitality But Is Weak In Other Ways

The Hyla breed is the best when it comes to vitality, giving them a lot of health and armor. However, they are the worst in other ways, such as luck as their critical chance is only at 2%.

Biomutant explains that "Hyla is a regenerative developed anthropomorphic breed. A hybrid with a gene mutation making them extremely tough and resilient." Players that are worried about having to heal up often should choose to play as a Hyla, but they wouldn't be as useful to players that are more concerned with other stats.

  • Pros: Excellent vitality.
  • Cons: Terrible luck.

4 The Dumdon Breed Is Great With Melee Weapons But Has Bad Intellect

The game states that "Dumdon is the least developed anthropomorphic breed. A hybrid off-shoot that compensates the lack of mental prowess with physical strength." Though the Dumdon's vitality isn't as high as the Hyla's, it is better than Primal. and is better than both of them when it comes to strength.

They have the best melee damage so those that want to fight with a weapon they can swing around and hit enemies with, such as a sword, would be best picking the Dumdon, despite having low intellect stats.

  • Pros: Best melee damage in the game.
  • Cons: Terrible intellect.

3 The Murgel Breed Has The Best Luck And Charisma But Is Weak In Other Ways

The game says that "Murgel is the definition of an idealized breed. Its evolutionary lineage has gone in a direction where form and appearance has dominated over function." Instead of being the best at something like vitality or strength, the Murgel has the highest percentage in charisma and luck, having 10% barter, 4% critical chance, and 5% loot chance. They also have more ki energy than the Dumdon.

Those that care more about finding better items and weapons than their actual stats should play as a Murgel.

  • Pros: Incredible charisma and luck stats.
  • Cons: Is terrible at fighting.

2 The Fip Has High Intellect But Is Weak In Terms Of Vitality And Strength

Though they aren't good in terms of vitality and strength, the Fip breed is the best when it comes to intellect. Biomutant states that "The Fip breed is renowned for a highly evolved mind. Its genius is directly interlinked to the power of Ki which amplifies their Psionic output."

The most unique class in the game is Psi-Freak, and it is highly recommended that those who want to have magical abilities pick that class along with the Fip breed. However, Fip isn't as useful for those that want to play as any of the other classes.

  • Pros: Highest intellect in the game.
  • Cons: Dismal vitality and strength.

1 The Rex Is The Most Balanced Of All The Breeds

Rex is the best breed in the game. The game states that "Rex is an extraordinary developed anthropomorphic breed. A hybrid outcast with an even DNA string making it apt for both physical and mental challenges." They are better than most breeds when it comes to vitality, strength, and intellect, while still being well balanced compared to the others as they aren't the strongest in any way.

For those that want strong and balanced stats, Rex is definitely the best breed to choose.

  • Pros: Extremely balance, making it highly adaptable.
  • Cons: Doesn't stand out in any major way for focused builds.
