The Buccaneer race is quite a special people who fans were introduced to rather recently in One Piece. Although the Buccaneers were present in the story from before the timeskip, they were only properly expanded upon in the Egghead arc, through the character of Kuma. Fans know that Buccaneers are the enemies of the World Government and that they committed a massive crime long ago in the past of One Piece.
