With the first part of the Caves and Cliffs update finally out, players are digging into all of the new content in Minecraft. With new mobs, blocks, and more, there's no shortage of things to discover. One thing that players may be curious about are Glow Berries, a new item that has some unique properties. Strangely, the Cave Vines that Glow Berries grow on can't be found naturally in the world just yet, but players can still find Glow Berries and plant some Cave Vines of their own. For those wondering how to get this item and what its uses are, look no further.
The Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update is being split into two parts. The first part of this update is available now, and adds a lot of new content to the game for players to experience. The second part of the update will focus on restructuring the way Minecraft randomly generates the world. The goal is to make things more cohesive, especially when it comes to the titular cliffs and caves.

Glow Berries are a new item players can get in the first part of the Cliffs and Caves update. For the most part, they act the same as Sweet Berries. Eating a Glow Berry restores 2 Hunger and provides the player with 0.4 Saturation. That said, since they are a bit harder to harvest than Sweet Berries, they aren't great for this purpose. Instead, players may find themselves more interested in their other use. Players can plant Glow Berries on the bottom side of a block, at which point they will grow a Cave Vine downward. Every time a new segment of Cave Vine is grown, it has a chance to spawn a Glow Berry. Segments of the vine that have Glow Berries on them will produce 14 light.
This serves as a natural way for players to light up caves or even rooms in their own bases if they so choose. That said, at the moment Cave Vines don't spawn naturally. Instead, players will have to find a Glow Berry by looting chests found in Abandoned Mineshafts. With just one of these Glow Berries, players can grow more until they have a decent supply.
When harvesting Glow Berries, it is important to never break the piece that is connected to the block, as this will destroy the plant and players won't get anything in return. What's more, only the tip of the Cave Vine can spawn Glow Berries, so players can simply break the tip if it doesn't and wait for a new piece to spawn.
