This is because friends tend to show up at the top of each other's Wonder Pick lists more often than not, which vastly increases the chances of their packs getting chosen. This will usually result in them getting thanked and receiving Shop Tickets, which they can then use to purchase more Wonder and Pack Hourglasses.
