Resident Evil Village is filled with hidden secrets and locations. Only the most dedicated experts managed to discover these places.

Quite honestly, Resident Evil Village doesn’t have a ton of “hidden locations” in it. And, the areas that would be considered "secret" also usually have treasures in them that are clearly marked on the map.

So, with that in mind, here are the ten areas players most commonly overlooked or couldn't figure out how to get to in their first playthrough.

10 Luiza’s Burned Down Home & Treasure

So, after Ethan jumps from the second story of Luiza’s burning house after bringing an infected person into it and getting them all killed, the guy is rightfully traumatized. This likely goes for the player as well, as not many of them ever seemed to return to this location to see if it had anything left to offer. Pro-tip, always backtrack to old locations in these games.

Why backtrack? Because there's actually a jewelry box sitting just out front of the charred remains that has Luiza’s Necklace. This necklace gives Ethan a gemstone, but it also gives him the key needed to unlock the Lone Road chest as well.

9 The Beneviento Slab & The Treasure It Brings

Claudia Beneviento's tombstone is the centerpiece of the area leading up to the dollhouse, but it’s also where the Beneviento Treasure is hidden. And, finding the slab that completes this plaque and unlocks the treasure is actually the thing people seemed to miss more often.

After defeating Donna and Angie in the dollhouse, go back to the Graveyard in the village, and that small locked tomb should now be open (thanks to the zombie that comes out of it). Kill the zombie and pick up the plaque on the ground, then go back and grab the Beneviento treasure. For some reason, because the tomb was "locked" originally, many people expected that would need to find a key for it or something. But, not everything in this game makes total sense, after all.

8 The Silver Angel Statue Hidden Beneath The Water

Previously, this location was inaccessible, due to the high water levels. But, after heading out into the scary water, beating Moreau, and draining the water, players can now go back and explore this area for some neat rewards such as the Silver Angel Statue. Make sure to do this before riding the lift back up to the village, because once that lift goes back up, it won’t go back down again.

To get here, all players have to do is get to the boathouse where they first road the boat past the sluice doors. On their return, they’ll notice that the boat with the treasure chest on it is now accessible, as well as a small area to explore as well.

7 The Finest Fish & The Fungus Cave

This next one is accessible right after players get the crank from Moreau's Reservoir area. After returning to the village, players can then head towards the bridge leading to the secondary “ritual” area where they’ll eventually put the Giants Chalice. Right before walking onto the bridge, look to the right and head down to the stairs to use the crank on the drawbridge. Cross over the bridge, get on the small boat, and head in the opposite direction from where the boat is facing by default.

This water path leads to a small area with two special locations, a tiny pond on the left that holds the "Finest Fish", and a cave entrance to the right that leads to some neat lore, some GM 79 rounds, and an antique coin from RE7 that sells for a chunk of Lei. That said, there are quite a few connections to previous RE games spread through Village.

6 The Riverbank Puzzle

Funnily enough, this next one is almost in the exact same spot as the Finest Fish or Fungus Cave. To get to this puzzle, players just have to go in the direction the small boat from the last entry is facing by default, instead of the opposite way.

This takes them to an area near Dimitrescu’s castle with a small shack and some big doors that lead to a series of torch puzzles. The third puzzle in this area is the only way players can get the "Medium Rare" achievement/trophy, as well as the Golden Lady Statue and some Magnum rounds.

5 The Goat Of Warding Under Otto’s Mill

Finding all 20 of the Goats of Warding is almost impossible for a single playthrough. A lot of them are hidden so obtusely that the chances of a player naturally finding them all without a guide in their first run is pretty minimal. That said, this next one found near Otto’s Mill is in a pretty obvious location, but one that many people seemed to miss.

Basically, this is the area where players can fight the second Urias Drac giant ax-wielding Zombie. But, under this mill, there’s a little cubby area hiding one of those pesky Goats. To access it, simply walk into the river with all the explosive barrels in minecarts, and walk under the mill where the water is flowing from.

4 Heisenberg’s Personal Quarters

So, to get through Heisenberg’s Factory, players eventually have to find the mold that lets them cast his key, and use it to get to Heisenberg himself. But, before doing that, players might remember that there was another locked door with the same horse logo on it that they couldn’t access, actually shockingly close to the casting machine.

Go back to where the casting machine is, head up the secret hallway to the machine's right, and unlock Heisenberg’s Personal Quarters to get the second combinable part of his hammer. So many people either got thrown down the hole leading the Chris or finished Heisenberg's section completely before realizing they missed this room, so hopefully, this should save them some time.

3 The Factory Zipline

The next hidden location doesn’t exactly reward players with a lot, but it’ll be a godsend for completionists wondering why this room was still red. In any case, after hopping off the third and final floor of the elevator in Heisenberg’s Factory, players will come face to face with a door that leads to Sturm’s boss room. So, before walking in, walk out towards the edge of the platform, and look for a big pipe below.

There should be an area where players can walk off the platform onto this pipe, then all they have to do is follow it up and ride the zipline down to this isolated island area. Again, not much more here than some ammo and a gemstone, but still, absolutely worth the time investment.

2 A Factory Fence Ethan Just Can’t Break

Speaking of secrets in Heisenberg’s factory, this is one that many players never managed to figure out. Throughout the course of this level, the game has been subtly teaching the player that the Soldat enemies can break through terrain (specifically the fence-like barriers) with their drill arms.

Well, there’s a specific fenced-off area that seems inaccessible. Well, there’s another sleeping Soldat on the other side of this fence, and he’ll wake up and break it down to get to Ethan if he’s shot. But, because it’s sort of hard to see him, and because the area seems completely separated from the explorable area, it got mistakenly overlooked by a lot of people.

1 The "Hidden In Plain Sight" Outhouse

Lastly, let's talk about that dastardly final outhouse needed to complete the “When You Gotta Go…” Challenge. Now, sadly, there are one or two outhouses out of the ten that are found in areas like the Reservoir that players can’t come back and open once they’ve left.

But, this one in East Old Town is accessible at any time, it’s just weirdly hard to see. It’s simple, go back to the Iron Insignia door in East Old Town. Once the player is starting directly at the Iron Insignia on the gate, just look to the right. They should see the outhouse clear as day now, but for some reason, it really blends into the background when players don’t know it's there.
