BioShock shook the gaming world back when it was first released in August of 2007. Thanks to BioShock's compelling steampunk-inspired world and it's excellent first-person action and horror elements, it has become one of the most celebrated games of the PS3 and Xbox 360 console generations.
Since then, fans of the series have created amazing works of art and projects encapsulating all things BioShock. Now, one fan has made an incredibly impressive replica of the fully upgraded pistol players can use in the original BioShock while exploring the ruined city of Rapture.

The post comes by way of a Reddit user going by the name OKCalamity73, who posted two photos of the replica pistol. The replica pistol itself has some amazing attention to detail as, being based off the fully upgraded version of the weapon, fans will notice the various pipes, accents, and elements are all included accurately on the replica. In fact, the replica itself even appears to have a lighting element included where the in-game pistol has a glowing red pin that comes from the damage increase mod. Additionally, the pistol houses the extended moon clip jutting out from the side of the weapon when players upgrade the gun's clip size.
OKCalamity73 explains a bit about how they made the pistol, saying the base of the pistol actually came from a real gun. However, the rest of the added elements were made using a 3D printer and were added to the base after the fact. While the pistol in BioShock isn't the most powerful weapon fans can acquire during the course of the game, it has become an iconic weapon for fans of the game. However, it seems that OKCalamity73 also has plans to recreate other weapons from the game, as they stated in the comments to the post that they would love to create a replica of the game's shotgun eventually.
This Reddit user has recreated other iconic weapons and items from video games, such as Corvo Attano's sword from the Dishonored series. Additionally, OKCalamity73 has made 3D printed replicas of various items from BioShock such as the game's various vending machines and a plasmid bottle. The collection of items look great, thanks in part due to BioShock's iconic art deco, retro-style art design. Overall, it seems clear that plenty of fans were impressed by the work done on the pistol as evident by the incredibly warm reception that the replica pistol post received on the "gaming" subreddit.
While the BioShock series has been dormant for some time, hopefully fans will have some news to look forward to in the coming months. For those who aren't aware, BioShock 4 is currently in development over at Cloud Chamber studios. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Ken Levine, the developer who led the creation of original BioShock and later BioShock Infinite, will not be attached to the title. Still, fans of the series are eager to see where exactly Cloud Chamber will take the beloved franchise going forward.
BioShock is available now on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and iOS.
