Ubisoft delivers the first look at gameplay for Rainbow Six Extraction during the E3 showcase, showing off new mechanics from the co-op shooter.

Ubisoft just offered up the first in-depth look at gameplay footage for Rainbow Six Extraction during their E3 showcase. The video followed three operators as they delved into a contaminated research facility and showed off some gadgets and mechanics players can look forward to.

The game adds elements of an RPG dungeon crawl to the co-op shooter’s level design. Still squad-based tactical combat remains the core of Rainbow Six Extraction’s gameplay.

The demo shows a team of three Operators advancing through multiple increasingly dangerous Sub-zones, with different goals and challenges in each one. Stealth is vital, as alerting one enemy can wake up the whole hive. It will begin covering the ground with Sprawl, which slows Operators and speeds up enemies.

The game separates sub-zones with airlocks that let teams regroup, resupply, and decide if it’s worth advancing into the next area. Each level, Mission control updates the team with a new objective for collecting intel, such as tagging alien growths or taking targets down with melee attacks. Gathering Intel unlocks new REACT Tech, like throwable sensors and distraction holograms. Players may want to return to base with new Intel before taking on the third, final and most dangerous Sub-Zone.

If an Operator goes down, their teammates can try to revive them. Otherwise, they’ll go into stasis and need to be rescued by the rest of their squad. Either way, the gameplay demo shows that teamwork is vital in the upcoming co-op shooter.

Rainbow Six Extraction launches on September 22, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
