Eidos Montreal introduces its upcoming single-player, story-driven game Guardians of the Galaxy and shows off some gameplay footage.

The Square Enix presentation during E3 2021 revealed a world premiere trailer for Eidos Montreal’s upcoming single-player, story-driven action-adventure game Guardians of the Galaxy. Olivier Proulx, senior producer at Eidos Montreal, discussed the company’s approach to transferring this well-known Marvel IP to a video game format. The development team will be bringing their own fresh take of the Guardians of the Galaxy that will differ from both the comics and the movies, and the characters will therefore not share any likeness with the actors from the movie franchise.

In the game, players will get to be a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, taking on the role of Peter Quill, meaning they will constantly be in the middle of the action as they lead the varied band of misfits who constantly challenge Star-Lord and make decisions on their own. The game will feature both exploration and action battle sequences, and the decisions made will have both minimal and longer lasting repercussions, with the game adjusting to what the player does and says. As Star-Lord, players will have access to Quill’s iconic elemental blasters and jet boots, which enable him to slide and glide over the battlefield. He can also use the unique abilities of the various Guardians to help turn the tide of battle.

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently in development.
