Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has a lot of fun, quirky weapons that players can experience during their time saving the multiple dimensions from Dr. Nefarious. While many weapons were teased through social media, one captured the attention of both Ratchet and Clank fans and Horizon Zero Dawn fans, the RYNO.
Appearing in multiple Ratchet and Clank games, the RYNO is a fabled weapon of destruction throughout the series. In Rift Apart, the RYNO 8 can open rifts to other dimensions, summoning things from different universes that fall on enemies, doing a lot of damage.

To get the RYNO 8, Ratchet and Rivet need to find all of the Spybots. There are 10 Spybots to collect in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, but luckily, none are particularly hard to find. When players have collected all 10 of the Spybots, Ms. Zurkon will craft the RYNO 8, giving players one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
The RYNO 8 can summon various things from different PlayStation-owned titles alongside things like Grunthors and airplanes. Sly Cooper can appear, while sometimes the van will appear, instead. Jax and Dexter also make an appearance, but the star of the show is arguably the Thunderjaw from Horizon Zero Dawn.
What comes out of the RYNO 8 rifts is random, so players will just have to keep shooting to find all the Easter eggs hidden by Insomniac Games. When upgraded to the Omega version, the RYNO will start dropping larger things like the Thunderjaw. The Omega version of the RYNO 8 and all the other weapons are available in Challenge Mode, Rift Apart’s version of new game plus.
During Ratchet and Clank’s Challenge Mode, players can purchase an Omega version of the RYNO 8 for 1 Million Bolts. The cost is steep, but players will earn more than enough Bolts throughout their second playthrough. Ms. Zurkon will sell Omega versions of any weapon that is at level 5, allowing those weapons to gain some more upgrade slots and reach level 10.
When players have purchased the Omega RYNO 8, it will come with some new upgrade slots. Use Raritanium to purchase the three new Portal Count upgrades from Ms. Zurkon, allowing the RYNO 8 to make 9 portals to summon things from. This gives the RYNO 8 a massive area of effect capable of clearing waves of enemies at a time, perfect for Zurkie's Cup Challenges.
While dropping a Thunderjaw on enemies in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart looks as awesome as it sounds, the Thunderjaw doesn’t do any damage outside of the raw damage from the RYNO 8. Fans hoping to see Thunderjaw attack their enemies will be disappointed, but dropping a Thunderjaw on Dr. Nefarious is a pretty hilarious sight.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is available now for PlayStation 5.
