Cyberpunk 2077 has been unavailable on the PlayStation Store for several months now, though gamers discover that it is coming back very soon.

When talking about Cyberpunk 2077, it is impossible not to mention the game’s disastrous launch on consoles. Upon release, the CD Projekt Red title was in such a bad state that Sony removed it from the PlayStation Store, a decision that has seen gamers unable to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on the platform.

The most recent mention of the game came from PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, with the higher-up claiming it was a “tough decision” to remove the game from the digital marketplace. However, he stands by the choice, with Ryan saying that PlayStation did not want to sell a broken product to its consumers. Instead of giving them a “bad experience,” the game was taken down indefinitely. However, it could finally be making a return to the PlayStation Store in the near future.

While CD Projekt Red recently stated that it did not know when Cyberpunk 2077 would return to PlayStation, evidence has been found that shows it is on its way to a return. Per IGN, gamers can find Cyberpunk 2077 if they search the phrase “Cyberpunk” in the PlayStation Store. Sure enough, it has its own tab and is labeled as “Just Announced.” Though it cannot he purchase yet, gamers can add it to their wishlists. With it not seen in the PlayStation Store since December, this unmentioned comeback is a bit shocking.

Currently, there are no details on a specific re-release date for the game. However, its comeback could be happening due to Cyberpunk 2077’s big 1.20 update and the two smaller patches that follow. Several bugs, crashes, and stability issues have been fixed since launch, with some clunky animations fixed as well. Overall, the game is in a much more playable state, and Sony may have determined that it is ready to be brought back to the PlayStation Store because of that.

While this is good news for CD Projekt Red and those that have been waiting to play a stable version of the game, it will be interesting to see how the developer markets its comeback. After all, releasing any kind of trailer for this re-launch puts a spotlight on why it was removed in the first place. At the same time, not promoting it seems like a bad idea, as the PlayStation Store removal had a major impact on Cyberpunk 2077’s sales. As such, CD Projekt Red will be in a trick position when it comes to promotion for this PlayStation return.

Those waiting for the next-gen upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 still have no info on a specific release date, with the second half of 2021 being all that is known. For those interesting in playing the PS4 version of the game, though, it seems like its return is imminent.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
