Square Enix's upcoming Guardian of the Galaxy game is coming to the Nintendo Switch alongside other console platforms and PC.

Square Enix showed off lots of gameplay Sunday with its E3 presentation, featuring plenty of new stuff including its upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game. On the list of platforms on which the game would be releasing, it seemed that Nintendo's hybrid console was sadly excluded. But in a surprise announcement in its own presentation today, Nintendo revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy is indeed coming to Switch in October.

Square Enix's interpretation of Guardians lore appears to be a single-player, story-driven experience. Players will guide Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill) along with his team-mates Drax, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot as they travel the cosmos on the hunt for that one big haul.

Fans of the comics will have seen plenty of familiar (and less familiar) faces in the trailer already, including Lady Hellbender and the Nova Corps. All in all, Guardians of the Galaxy looks like it could grant Square Enix a bit of goodwill after the lukewarm reception to Avengers, and Switch fans can now rest assured that they'll be able to take Groot and all the rest around with them on the hybrid console.

Guardians of the Galaxy will release on October 26, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
