Windows 11 leaks online ahead of an official reveal from Microsoft, showing off a new start button and menu, rounded corners, and more.

Microsoft recently confirmed a retirement date for Windows 10, but it hasn't revealed the successor to the current version of the operating system. While Microsoft is holding onto Windows 11 for a future reveal, aspects of the operating software have leaked online.

Microsoft is set to reveal the next generation of Windows at an upcoming event on June 24, but the company hasn't confirmed any details as of yet. Windows 11 details have leaked online ahead of the event and the new operating system will offer rounded corners and a revamped start menu.

Each version of Windows offers a unique boot sequence, and Windows 11 has a new startup sound that PC enthusiasts will identify the software with. A lot of the changes made to the Windows 11 user interface and Start menu are reminiscent of what was originally planned for  Windows 10X. Windows 10 was initially planned to be the final version of Windows, but Microsoft has confirmed a retirement date of October 14, 2025.

Microsoft has centered the app icons in the taskbar with Windows 11, with the removal of live tiles. PC owners who don't like the centered app icons can adjust this change in the options. Live tiles have been replaced by a new button called Widgets. The Widgets button slides out a panel that shows news, weather and stories from around the web similar to live tiles, but presumably more visually appealing and customizable. Among other important fixes with the next Windows operating system are a cleaner tray area, and a brand new Start button and menu.

Although the version of Windows 11 that leaked appears to be functioning, it lacks expected changes to individual Microsoft apps that will be implemented in the official release. A new function that has been leaked is snap controls which allow PC users to more easily move and place windows, apps, etc. A significant chunk of the operating system has been teased in the leaks online, but not everything is included yet and Microsoft still has several changes to make before Windows 11 releases.

With Windows 10 coming to an end in 2025, PC gamers will see the release of the next generation of Windows between now and then. While Microsoft has canceled Windows 10X, it appears as though several aspects planned for the operating system have just been implemented into Windows 11. Although Microsoft will likely reveal more details about the next Windows on June 24, several details seem to have already leaked online. June 24 is mere weeks away so PC owners won't have long to wait to know more about the next generation of Windows.

While the Windows 11 leak looks extremely detailed and legitimate, it's always best to take leaks and rumors with a grain of salt until details are officially confirmed.
