Chris Pratt praises Chris Hemsworth by saying that the actor’s performance in Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder was next level.

Chris Pratt said he was astonished by Chris Hemsworth's performance in Thor: Love and Thunder. Earlier this year, Pratt filmed the upcoming Phase Four Marvel film with his long-time "Best Chris" rival.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder will see astrophysicist Jane Foster become the Mighty Thor while undergoing cancer treatment. The large ensemble cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, and Dave Bautista. Marvel newcomer Christian Bale is playing the villainous Gorr the God Butcher, who possesses the ability to shape-shift and camouflage in the comics.

The fourth installment of the Thor franchise concluded production earlier this month in Australia. While details have been kept under wraps, the Guardians of the Galaxy crew are expected to factor into the sequel's storyline. Fans last saw the former king of Asgard and Star-Lord teasing one another on the Benatar in Avengers: Endgame. Pratt told Yahoo that Thor 4 features the same friendly rivalry between the two superheroes. “So Taika had a vision for it and I think people are really going to like what we did,” said Pratt, while adding, “I think people are really gonna like that. And it picks up on that same vein, that same kind of rivalry between the two.”

Pratt praised Hemsworth's latest turn at Thor by saying that the Australian actor’s performance in the film was next level. “People are gonna be really astounded when they see what he’s brought, what he and Taika have brought for Thor 4. It’s next-level. [Hemsworth] ratcheted it up to even another level.” The Guardians star jokingly stated that Hemsworth “is a man-god in real life," and that he was in awe of his presence on set. Meanwhile, Hemsworth recently trolled Pratt on social media by posting saying that Chris Evans was his number one Chris in birthday message to the former Captain America star.

Pratt will next be seen in Chris McKay’s The Tomorrow War. The action film focuses on Pratt’s Dan Forester, a former Delta Force operator who transports to the future to save the world and his daughter against deadly aliens. Forester teams up with his estranged father Slade (J.K. Simmons) and brilliant scientist Vicki Winslow (Yvonne Strahovski). The large ensemble cast includes Veep’s Sam Richardson, Glow’s Betty Gilpin, and The Purge’s Edwin Hodge. During the pandemic, Amazon Studios acquired the film’s distribution rights from Paramount Pictures. The Tomorrow War will be available on Amazon Prime on July 2nd.

Later this year, Pratt will begin filming James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The third Guardians film is expected to wrap up the characters’ MCU arcs and be the final chapter in the iconic franchise, at least the last entry to involve Gunn and, presumably, the current roster of heroes. The blockbuster film will also star returning cast members Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in theatres on May 6, 2022.
