It's possible that the Steam Summer Sale of 2021 will begin next Thursday, according to a reputable source that is often correct on these matters.

It's very nearly that time of year. For many PC users, the Steam Summer Sale can feel like Christmas come early. Often what happens prior to the event is a date for the sale is usually leaked ahead of time, and this year is no different. A recent rumor points to a reputable source indicating that the next batch of reduced PC games may be going ahead some time next week.

According to a report, the Twitter page @SteamDB has gotten word that this year's Steam Summer Sale is set to begin on June 24. This rumor is based on an email sent out to partners by Valve with confidential details about when it will be starting. The tweet, and its accompanying website, say that this information has already been leaked, and it's looking like next Thursday is likely to be the confirmed date. The start times have also been released, which state that the sale will begin at 10am PT and 1pm ET.

For those who don't know, SteamDB is an analytics page which is not affiliated with Valve or its Steam platform, but does have a reputation for uploading key details about sales which eventually turn out to be true. The website has archives of previous Steam sales which go back to 2007. Recently, the site came under heavy fire from Sega when the company accused the website of  hosting pirate content and demanded it remove the Yakuza: Like A Dragon page.

It's hard to know exactly which games will become discounted. Even SteamDB don't seem privy to such information. However, for newcomers to PC gaming, fans can expect to get hold of some pretty big titles for cheaper than normal. In the past, such huge games as The Division, Fallout 4 and Batman: Arkham Knight have been put up for sale at reduced prices. These are much older games at this point, but it stands to reason that current generation titles could potentially be part of the two-week event.

This is also not the only sale that Steam implements. In April this year, the gaming platform hosted its annual Golden Week sale, which discounted a lot of games specifically from Japanese studios. Titles such as Tekken 7, Final Fantasy 15, and even Kojima's Death Stranding were included in the event. However, it's the Summer Sale that many are interested in. It's arguably one of the biggest gaming events of the year outside E3, and it's always an exciting time to be a PC gamer when it comes around.
