The latest pinnacle weapon introduced in Destiny 2: Beyond Light is the Adored Sniper Rifle and it gives players options on how to acquire it.

Pinnacle weapons have been a Destiny 2 staple for a couple of years now, originally introducing a lengthy quest for players to complete leading to a special weapon. Originally, these pinnacle quests introduced special weapons based around completing specific milestones in the various game modes, from the Crucible, Strikes, and more. These weapons were intended to have special modifiers to help them stand out from the typical weapons found in the world.

Not every weapon was a smashing success with the community, though there's been more than a few that have entered and stated within the game's meta. Naturally, these pinnacle quests have changed over the years and with the Beyond Light expansion sunsetting a huge portion of weapons, fans are eager to find replacements for weapons that have since been retired.

In addition to a brand new Destiny 2 pinnacle weapon inside of the current Season of the Hunt, Bungie has changed the way players can now acquire this weapon. Here's a complete guide on the Adored sniper rifle and how to unlock it.

Updated by Payton Lott on June 16, 2021: One of the top snipers in the competitive scene is the Beloved. However, Bungie's sunsetting changes removed the weapon from the Menagerie. Anyone that was not able to get the weapon during the raid was simply out of luck. Thankfully, Bungie decided to add Beloved's sister Adored to the game. It may not be the same as the popular Beloved, but it provides an equally effective replacement for the elusive weapon. Changes with the scope and rolls will have a slight impact on performance, but the Adored's potential will depend on the preference of the player. To get the sniper even faster, gamers should use the method at the end of this list.

The newest legendary pursuit weapon added to Destiny 2 during the Season of the Hunt is the Adored sniper rifle. An adaptive-frame weapon, the Adored isn't likely going to be setting any damage record numbers any time soon like its aggressive-frame counterpart snipers. However, the gun comes with solid statistics which make it a great all-around weapon.

The perks it comes with also help make this gun reliable, solid, and versatile for players whether they're going into a PvP match or PvE activity.

  • Hammer-forge rifling - Increases range.
  • Accurized Rounds - Increases range.

Players have a choice to make with the next set of perks. Players can swap between Triple Tap or Killing Wind and then have the option to take either Vorpal Weapon or Snapshot Sights.

  • Triple Tap - Rapidly landing precision hits returns 1 round to the magazine.
  • Killing Wind - Final blows give the player increased mobility, weapon range, and handling for a short duration.
  • Vorpal Weapon - Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians who have their super active.
  • Snapshot Sights - Faster time to aim down the weapon's sights.

Stat-wise, the Adored is exactly the same as the old Beloved sniper from a few years ago. It has a one-shot headshot potential and has one of the better sniper scopes in the game. All of its relevant stats are included below:

  • Impact: 70
  • Range: 55
  • Stability: 51
  • Handling: 52
  • Reload Speed: 44
  • Rounds Per Minute: 90
  • Magazine: 4
  • Aim Assistance: 68
  • Recoil: 77

Unlike past seasons, Bungie has introduced a new way for players to acquire Adored. While there's still a quest to follow, players now have a choice as to how they can acquire it. While previous seasons typically featured a Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit-specific weapon, Season of the Hunt lets players select which activity path they'd like to follow in order to work through it.

After visiting Banshee-44, the Tower's Gunsmith, players can pick a quest focused on Strikes, Crucible matches, or Gambit to obtain the sniper rifle. Based on whichever path the player picks, the quest steps change to accommodate the preferred choice. Here's each questline depending on the activity selected.

Strikes In Your Sights

The first step in this quest is to defeat 40 bosses, 1000 enemies, and collect 300 points by defeating enemies with a sniper rifle. Precision shots grant extra progression.

The final step in this admittedly short quest chain is to get 35 sniper rifle defeats or 20 sniper rifle headshots in a row without dying. While this may pose a challenge for some players, thankfully only one needs to be completed for the quest to count.

After that, players should head back to the Tower and speak with Banshee to claim the sniper rifle.

Crucible In Your Sights

While the Crucible is under a bit of scrutiny these days with the recent Stasis subclasses causing a bit of chaos, the questline overall doesn't appear to be that difficult. The first step is to defeat 500 Guardian players, earn 3 Valor ranks, and collect 200 points by defeating players with a sniper rifle in Crucible matches. Precision shots grant extra progression.

When that is complete, the next step gives players another two options. Get 5 long-range final blows or 5 headshots using a sniper rifle. Again, only one needs to be completed for the quest to count.

After that, players should head back to the Tower and speak with Banshee to claim the sniper rifle.

Gambit In Your Sights

The final path is through the Drifter's PvEvP activity, Gambit. The first step is to get 300 precision kills (can be AI or player defeats), gain 3 Infamy ranks, and collect 250 points by defeating enemies with a sniper rifle. Precision shots grant extra progression.

Next up, again introduces a choice for players on how to proceed and only one of two needs to be finished. Either defeat 5 enemy Guardians or 20 enemy blockers. Even with the revised rules to Gambit introduced in Beyond Light, this final quest step likely won't pose much of a problem for players as blockers are a big part of the activity anyway.

The Corrupted Strike is by far the quickest way to complete Banshee's challenges. Specifically, gamers will want to head to the Blind Well, where at tier 3, three bosses can be killed in one playthrough. Unlike many of the other strikes, guardians will not have to waste their time going through hordes of adds to get to the boss. Eye of the Enemies can be completed there too.

After that, players should head back to the Tower and speak with Banshee to claim the sniper rifle.

Snipers are PVP weapons in Destiny 2. They can be viable in PVE, but because of the limited damage per magazine, fully auto options and hand cannons are often more preferable. Anyone grinding this gun out will see more of an impact in the Crucible.

As far as PVP performance goes, the only notable difference between the Adored and the Beloved is the range of the scope. Adored has a more versatile medium range scope, which will suit certain playstyles. We already know how dominant the Beloved is, so the Adored is certainly among the best snipers in the game.
