AMC's The Walking Dead swarmed onto its unsuspecting audience in 2010, and since its very first episode, the iconic zombie-infested TV series captured viewers with its harrowing narrative and horrific living dead. Even though the horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont wasn't the first to showcase people trying to survive in a zombie-filled world, as George A. Romero is widely considered the "father of the modern zombie genre" due to groundbreaking films like Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, The Walking Dead excelled at giving viewers zombies that felt real and dangerous rather than mindless, decaying creatures who just wanted to eat brains all day.
