Nemesis is the newest killer in Dead by Daylight, and players looking to figure out his best build combinations can do so with this guide.

Dead by Daylight has now been out for five years and yet it still manages to find a spot on Twitch's most-streamed games list on a regular basis. Much of this is due to the frequent updates developer Behaviour Interactive has added to the game over the years, raising its killer/survivor ratio from 3 killers and 4 survivors to now 24 killers and 27 survivors. The newest killer in Dead by Daylight is Nemesis from the Resident Evil 3 remake, and this guide will help players build him for success.

As with any killer, Nemesis can be a threat to survivors with multiple different builds if a player knows how to use him efficiently. While he probably won't be challenging top-tier Dead by Daylight killers in the current meta like Nurse and Spirit, he also doesn't find himself on the low end with Clown and Trickster. Right now he seems to be average or above, although this could certainly change as his newness wears off and he is played by fewer people. With that said, he's a fairly straightforward killer and one that doesn't require high skill to use effectively.

First off, players will need to recognize what makes Nemesis unique. While his basic punch attack won't be turning any heads, his T-Virus special attack and his zombie minions scattered about the map will be key parts of his strategy. T-Virus has three different levels of Mutation, and each level will define how players should use the attack.

Players will need to be careful how they use T-Virus, as even though contaminating survivors is important, a survivor struck by a tentacle will receive a short speed burst. Since it takes two tentacle hits to reduce a non-contaminated survivor one health state, players should try to get in tentacle hits while survivors are isolated or in an open field so a follow-up is easier.

The Contamination effect T-Virus inflicts on survivors is certainly helpful, but Nemesis players can also use T-Virus at level 2 to quickly break pallets and catch up to survivors. Nemesis thrives when he can cause survivors to waste time by hunting for vaccines and struggle with generators. Choosing perks and add-ons in Dead by Daylight that strengthen Nemesis' zombies and slow down generator progress will create a more balanced killer.

The best perks for Nemesis to use probably won't surprise players familiar with Dead by Daylight, but there is some variety in how they can be used. Players should focus on established perks that work well with most killers, as well as perks that slow down generator progress.

Ruin is a staple of killers in Dead by Daylight. Its highest effect causes generators to regress at 200% the normal regression speed when survivors aren't actively repairing them. This extends games in general and gives Nemesis more time to keep survivors contaminated and his zombies more chances to surprise players. Combining this perk with Hex: Undying is a common strategy that forces survivors to look for totems instead of repairing generators.

Another generator regression perk. Once Nemesis hooks a survivor, he can go to a nearby generator and damage it by 25% at maximum effect. While not quite as useful as Hex: Ruin, it still provides some good utility to a Nemesis focusing on getting hooks and not trying to slug for a win.

Eruption is one of Nemesis' signature perks in Dead by Daylight. This perk makes generators regress every time he puts a player into a dying state. It also incapacitates survivors working on generators in other areas for a short time. Nemesis must kick generators for this perk to activate, so it's a good combination to pair with Pop Goes the Weasel.

Barbecue and Chili is just an excellent all-around perk. It reveals survivors for a short time after hooking one of them, and also gives bonus Bloodpoints for players to use to get more unlockables. A unique way Nemesis can use this perk is to creep up on revealed survivors and force them toward his AI zombie minions. While this won't always work, a zombie ally may just get in a hit and make it that much easier for Nemesis to put a survivor in a dying state.

A good perk that helps Nemesis build up his attack speed. It also doesn't punish him for using T-Virus on his Obsession and lets Contamination do its job. A Nemesis with a fast level 3 special attack that has extended range is certainly a killer to be feared.

Another perk that can be useful with just about any killer. For Nemesis, seeing survivors when they attempt to heal means he can position himself effectively and possibly use zombies to his advantage. Survivors getting together also means more targets for Contamination, though players will still need to be wary of striking multiple survivors with a tentacle and giving them all a speed boost.

Nemesis' add-ons primarily affect his zombies and the Mutation Rate of the T-Virus attack. While he has add-ons that don't focus on these two things, they won't help balance out his best builds. The best builds for Nemesis will use different combinations of the above perks and these add-ons to help players climb up ranks when matchmaking in Dead by Daylight.

The Depleted Ink Ribbon is possibly Nemesis' best add-on. It moderately increases zombie respawn time and speed while also making it difficult for players when trying to exit a map. A Nemesis that has killed a few of his own zombies with T-Virus (which will also help increase mutation levels) can terrorize survivors with his revived zombie buddies at an exit gate.

Another helpful add-on from the Resident Evil crossover. This add-on gives T-Virus the biggest Mutation Rate boost of all his add-ons. While it does require killing zombies, there are often one or two zombies on a given map that won't be in a helpful place. Their death may give them better positioning when they respawn and it powers up Nemesis.

Marvin's Blood is essentially just a slightly weaker version of T-Virus Sample with one catch: Nemesis must hit survivors to get the Mutation rate boost. Considering this is the goal anyway, it's a great add-on to capitalize off of injuring survivors and trying to get the coveted 4 kills.

Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
