In Pokemon GO, the various Raid Bosses that trainers can encounter tend to rotate each time a new season appears or themed events arrive in-game. There are a number of different Raid levels available for players to take on, with 1-Star Raids featuring more commonly found first form/Basic Pokemon, 2 - 4-Star Raids offering evolved forms and more rare specimens, 5-Stars being exclusive to Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, and then special Max Battles, Shadow Raids, and Mega Raids for Dynamax/Gigantamax Pokemon, Shadow Pokemon, and Mega Evolution bosses.
