FromSoftware announcements and news are infrequent, with a lot of mystery and confusion surrounding the developer's games. While it may be fun for fans to entertain leaks about games they are excited for, they should be wary of rumors that may not be true. Rumors are circulating online about a spiritual successor to Bloodborne, which is the action RPG that invited gothic, cosmic horror into FromSoftware's world design.
FromSoftware fans were recently treated to an Elden Ring gameplay trailer. But long-time FromSoftware fans continue to express their enthusiasm toward Bloodborne. Fans have wanted a dedicated sequel, or at least a Bloodborne PC port. However, hearing rumors of a leaked, spiritual successor to Bloodborne may be enough to satisfy FromSoftware fans.

Firstly, it is important to note that any information concerning the alleged Velvet Veil is unconfirmed and a mere rumor at this point. No further details are included about Velvet Veil other than it would be a spiritual successor to Bloodborne. This information offers no context or insight into what the supposed FromSoftware title is other than referencing another game as its influence. The apparent leaker, who goes by the name Ruancarlo Silva, has shared what they believe to be evidence of Velvet Veil's existence as a PS5 exclusive, and that it would launch sometime after Elden Ring. However, there is currently no discernible proof that Silva's rumors about a leaked Velvet Veil game are true.
If legitimate, fans may assume that Velvet Veil would look and play similarly to Bloodborne. But individuals who were referenced in the leaker's discussions about Velvet Veil have since declined to share information, and claim that they were not involved in posting anything about the rumored FromSoftware game.
Further, other insiders who are knowledgeable about previous FromSoftware leaks have disputed the legitimacy of Velvet Veil altogether. Lance McDonald, who produced a 60fps patch for Bloodborne on the PS4 Pro, has since provided evidence toward the leaker's sources being questionable. Apparently, the leaker has denied having claimed that they had leaked details about the game at all.
Velvet Veil is only a fabricated rumor until FromSoftware makes an announcement. As it stands, it appears unlikely that fans will be receiving any official news about a spiritual successor to Bloodborne. If fans do hear about a spiritual successor or sequel, it may very well not be titled Velvet Veil, and Bloodborne fans may have to wait for some time to hear news about it.
Bloodborne is available now on PS4.
