In hopes of shining a light on the double standard on Twitch, notable streamer xQc criticizes the recent trend of ASMR streamers.

Many content creators have become Internet celebrities through a wide variety of viral content. On Twitch, that showed itself through the popularity of Hot Tub Streams, a form of content that is seen by many as controversial.

Now, it seems that these creators have moved on from the Hot Tub Streams in favor of a new brand of suggestive viral internet content within the ASMR streams genre. This involves a similar theme of making content more explicit, where these creators are scantily dressed and seductively licking microphones to please their audience. Other casual ASMR streamers, and other big-name creators on the platform, are quite upset with this, such as notable streamer xQc.

The streamer xQc has criticized Amouranth and other suggestive ASMR streams for having no disregard for breaking the Twitch guidelines and being prideful about getting away with it, knowing they will make a ton of money in the process. He also believes that this sort of trend is becoming harmful to Twitch and its partnered streamers, who are losing faith in Twitch's ability to monitor its own platform.

He also goes into more detail by saying that Amouranth, Indiefoxx, and other types of creators have gone through multiple bans for these similar reasons and should have already been given a permaban from the platform. The streamer, who has been previously banned himself, points out how he's been challenged by Twitch for arguably minor infractions by comparison, using the example of how he was almost given a ban for a video he watched where a man falls down, showing about an inch of his butt. However, these streamers are getting away with wearing revealing clothing and being banned repeatedly. Later in the video, xQc states that there is a double standard on the platform for what Twitch will tolerate and who the platform decides to take swift action against.

Twitch did ban Amouranth and other major ASMR streamers within mere minutes of each other, but many are still critical of Twitch for not taking action any sooner. Not only that, but this type of content also proved harmful to serious ASMR creators such as ElisabeteTV or Japan_ASMR who read stories or make other types of content that was pushed down in the rankings for their own category.

Hopefully, Twitch can come to a resolution that is beneficial for all parties involved. To many, this is a gray area where arguments can be made for supporting this type of content on the platform. While others think it is not fair for Twitch to show any more favoritism or leniency with these controversial creators versus everyone else on the platform. Ultimately, it will be up to Twitch to decide what is best for its platform and its viewers.
