Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart features a fair and fun trophy list, as most players can earn the platinum easily through one full playthrough. However, there is one trophy that is technically missable in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and it sees the Lombaxes needing to kill some Grunthors.
These massive dinosaurs may have limited attacks, but it will take some smart use of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s entire weapon arsenal to bring them down. Fortunately, players should not have too much trouble after they have killed one Grunthor, as all share the same moveset. For those looking to take on these durable dinosaurs, they will have a few opportunities to do so.

Players can find nearly all the Grunthors on the same Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart planet, as they make their home in Sargasso. One can be found if players go off exploring instead of following the guide bot shortly after Rivet lands on the planet. Two more are story related, with players needing to fight them before and after they lower the bridge. Another is found during the side quest where players collect Zurpstones for Trudi, while one more spawns on the second story-related visit.
If players want one extra Grunthor spawn, they can play Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s combat challenges at the Scarstu Debris Field. Accessed via the green control panel in Zurkie’s, players can face an Undead Grunthor as part of the Bronze Cup. Unlocked by completing the other four challenges in this Cup, this special fight will see the Grunthor having a skeletal design. It also spawns some skeletal Sandsharks, though it is the same as any other Grunthor battle in terms of its abilities and health pool.
While most Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart fans should have no problem unlocking this trophy, as the only way to miss it would be to deliberately avoid the Grunthor fights, it is technically missable. As such, players should be thorough, making sure that they kill a Grunthor whenever they come across it. Unlike other Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart trophies, this cannot be done at any time, as only one Grunthor can be found after the story. It also does not respawn, making it impossible to farm.
The first method for getting this trophy would be to keep track of how many Grunthors have been killed after each segment of the game. After the first visit to Sargasso, players should have 2-3 Grunthor kills depending on if the optional one was killed. The Undead Grunthor from the Bronze cup can be killed at any time, while players should also be sure to kill the one that appears during the Trudi side quest. If gamers still need one more, it can be found on the second story visit to Sargasso.
As for the second method, paranoid players can get the trophy out of the way by killing one of the Grunthors on their first Sargasso trip and then jumping into the swamp water. When they respawn, the Grunthor will respawn too, allowing them to farm five kills on the same dinosaur. This only works on the first few Grunthors players encounter, though, so those doing it this way should get it out of the way early. Once five of the beasts have been taken down, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart players will unlock the Extinction Event trophy.
