Code Vein isn't a particularly easy game to play and the Boreal Brute makes that clear, but this guide will show how to defeat the difficult boss.

Fans of the open-world action RPG Code Vein will be more than aware of how tough of an experience it can be. After all, the gameplay takes direction from Dark Souls, so, of course, its difficulty follows suit. Whether it be tough boss encounters or too well-hidden Goddess Statues, Code Vein does everything but hold players' hands.

That said, when it comes to the Boreal Brute fight, Code Vein gets insanely difficult. Players are forced into a 2v1 between two extremely powerful foes. Unsurprisingly, their strength matches how fast they can move across the battlefield, and in most cases, players are dead within seconds. To make matters worse, unless players have one of Code Vein's best weapons, there's no shot at getting in any real damage.

Due to this, most players consider the Boreal Brute fight to be harder than most other boss fights in the game. Thankfully, this fight is made a whole lot easier in the most obvious way possible. It doesn't involve having the best partner in Code Vein, though having one would certainly help as well.

While very little can be done in the world of avoiding their attacks, the Boreal Brutes have an incredible weakness to fire. Specifically, players should use fire gifts or imbue their weapons with fire. Two or three hits with a fire-enchanted weapon can eat through their ice armor in seconds, severely limiting their movement. This gets even better if players have a partner with them, as they can also imbue their partner's weapon for added effect.

Another weapon-type Code Vein players can rely on in this fight are hammers. In addition to fire-type damage, the Boreal Brutes are extremely weak to crush-type damage. However, the catch is that hammers mainly work prior to their armor-up phase. To counter the armor-up, players can take advantage by back-stabbing them. It also wouldn't hurt to throw on as much ice resistance as possible, just in case things get a little haywire.

What makes this encounter all the crazier to struggle with is the fact that the Boreal Brutes are only a part of the regular mobs, rather than being a boss fight. On the other hand, it serves as a great challenge to revisit if players don't know what to do after beating Code Vein. Careful though, as NG+ gives players the option of enhanced difficulty, and that no doubt makes this fight far more intimidating.

Code Vein is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
