Before actor Rachel Zegler has even made her onscreen debut, she has already landed her next film and turns out she is going to be a Disney princess. It has been confirmed that Zegler will be starring as the lead character in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The original feature film was Disney’s first fully animated feature and was released in 1937. Based on a Brothers Grimm story, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was not only a big success for the studio, it was also a turning point for the animation industry and started a new trend in Hollywood that is still alive almost a century later.

Zegler was thrilled to share the news of her Show White casting with her followers on Twitter. She posted links to several news articles about her casting, which was first reported by Deadline, and even shared images of herself posing with an actor dressed as Snow White. She even went on to post images of herself from 2017, wherein she is seen performing on a stage, dressed as Little Mermaid. “I wanna be a real Disney princess,” the caption reads, which makes the actor and her fans believe that she has “manifested” the path for her own life.
The live-action remake of the Disney classic will reportedly have new songs and expand on the storyline from the original, which follows the story of a princess who falls into a deep sleep after eating a poisoned apple. While the stepmother is the real antagonist responsible for her comatose state, only a kiss from the prince can wake her up. It remains to be seen how much of the original plot is kept intact in the upcoming version of Snow White.
Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the team responsible for the great soundtracks from The Greatest Showman and La La Land, have been working on the new songs for the live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At least three new songs will be featured in the film, which is expected to enter the production phase this year.
Zegler is set to make her film debut with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, which is expected to premiere later this year. The film will work as an adaptation of the extremely popular Broadway musical of the same name, which had its first run in 1957. Zegler is currently shooting for Shazam! Fury of the Gods after being cast in an unknown role earlier this year. So, it seems like the actor has her hands full at the moment.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is expected to start shooting in 2022.
