Crytek has announced the previously in-development Crysis 4 has been put on hold while the studio plans to lay off 15% of its staff. The developer is famed for producing the first-person shooter Crysis series that debuted in 2007, following a group of nanosuited military protagonists opposing a host of powerful mercenaries and technologically advanced aliens called the Ceph. Crysis 4 succeeds three main entries, 2011’s Crysis 2 and 2013’s Crysis 3, alongside the 2008 expansion Crysis Warhead and the 2020 Crysis Remastered release.
