A trio of Mortal Kombat cosplayers are going viral for their impressive renditions of fan-favorites Skarlet, Kitana, and Mileena.

The Mortal Kombat fandom is rife with impressive homages to the long-running series, particularly with emulating the series distinctive ninja costumes. One group of Mortal Kombat fans are now going viral for their impressive cosplay of some of the franchise's most popular female characters.

The near 30-year-old hyperviolent fighting video game series has seen a resurgence in popularity over the last year or so. In addition to the highly successful Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion, the Mortal Kombat film reboot was released in April to favorable reviews, and actor Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Scorpion, was just confirmed to join the star-studded cast of John Wick 4.

Reposted to Twitter by cosSLAY cosplay, the trio of fans are in full, detailed outfits for Skarlet, Kitana, and Mileena. Portrayed by three established cosplayers, Armored Heart, Candylion, and Mina Kess, each costume replicates the look of the respective kombatants perfectly. The Skarlet outfit looks identical to the character's Blood Pixie Kosmetic and Red Death Mask, whereas Kitana looks almost exactly like her standard MK11 garb. The Mileena cosplay, while still impressive, varies from the other two women in a significant way. As some players may see, this version of Mileena has more of a reddish hue, and that's because the design comes from Mortal Kombat X, rather than MK 11 like the other two.

The collection of impressively accurate cosplays is sure to impress plenty of franchise fans, but its actually not the first time at least one of these outfits have been noticed. A few months ago, Ed Boon, co-creator of the entire Mortal Kombat series, took to Twitter to share Armored Heart's impressive Skarlet cosplay. Boon lauded the cosplayer's game-accurate efforts, calling her rendition of the blood-bender from Outworld "next level."

The Mortal Kombat fandom has been making quite a few headlines as of late. Beyond the three cosplayers going viral, another fan is getting tens of thousands of views for their incredibly detailed Sub-Zero tattoo. Created by artist Flavio Luccisano, the tattoo shows a near-photorealistic version of the Lin Kuei cryomancer. Rather than one of his many video game incarnations, the ink is of the live-action version of the character from the 2021 film, and even got the approval of the Sub-Zero actor himself, Joe Taslim.

Seeing as how Mortal Kombat 11 released just two years ago, its pretty safe to say it'll be years before the next main installment arrives. However, that's not to say spinoffs are out of the question. Ed Boon recently released a poll gauging interest in potential remasters, which has gotten many fans' hopes up for a new version of cult-classic Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
