Cyberpunk 2077's Misty could return as a central part of the game's upcoming DLC because of several facets of her character.

Despite allegedly coming later in 2021, there have been no official announcements made about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. Essentially nothing is known about what it'll be like so fans are hoping for any sort of news on it soon. Speculation on what kind of story content will be included in the first DLC started as soon as fans finished the game's main story when it released in December of 2020. One character from the game that could make a significant return for the DLC is Misty Olszewski, Jackie Welles's girlfriend.

There have been plenty of theories on who might be the major players for the first significant Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, but Misty is perfect for it. She had a supporting role throughout the entirety of the game that made her a friendlier face than most in Night City while not usually being directly involved with any of the major points of conflict. She's a great fit because there's still so much more to her than is explored in the base game opening the door for CD Projekt to take the DLC in a few different directions.

While many major characters are killed throughout the course of Cyberpunk 2077's main story, Misty survives but still gets it bad. Jackie's death clearly weighs heavily on her while she's left to pick up the pieces of him that remain in her day-to-day life. Based on the choices the player makes, there are several different ways they can navigate through the story, but no matter what they choose, Misty isn't in a great place at the end of the game. As things come crashing down around her and her friends, Misty doesn't know what to do with her grief so she starts feeling distant and lost.

DLC for Cyberpunk could potentially focus on this late-game aspect of her. She might disappear one day as a result of her grief and need V to track her down and either bring her home or help her find the closure she needs to move on. Instead of leaving, she could also look for closure around Night City with V as her guide. The two could drive around the city one last time visiting spots Jackie took Misty to or other significant places of her past. If she appears in the DLC, it'll hopefully address the fact that, while she gets through the plot of the game relatively unharmed, the damage Night City can do isn't always physical.

Even though Jackie was clearly a big part of Misty's life, she's more going on than simply grappling with his death. She runs Misty's Esoterica and Chakra Harmonization, a store devoted to selling items good for the spirit. Because of her profession, it's likely that Misty has met a lot of interesting folks in Night City. This could also be a jumping-off point for the upcoming Cyberpunk DLC.

As proven by simply playing the game, there are all sorts of people who live in Night City. One of CD Projekt Red's strengths lies in creating complicated characters who feel like real people. It feels plausible that the studio could make someone like a big-time gangster who's also very connected to their spirituality that frequents Misty's store feel believable. If they get in trouble or need V's help for something, Misty could serve as the DLC's quest-giver and potential initial incident. There are all kinds of directions that the Cyberpunk DLC could go if CD Projekt chooses this route which would also give more background to Misty and keep a fan favorite involved with the game's future.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades scheduled to release later this year.
