Final Fantasy 7 Remake strays intentionally from the plot of the original, leading to different story beats. This has led to much discussion of what could be in the future, what events are solid in the timeline and which are fluid, and discussions on the living status of Zack Fair.

It's safe to say the possibilities have sparked the imaginations of fans of Final Fantasy 7 old and new. With events being changed, the story itself could wind up leading somewhere completely different, for better or for worse. Some fans have not stopped there though, but have let their imaginations range way outside the box, which is what brought us a particularly fun piece of fan art.

A fan who goes by u/jamesswazz has created a mashup image of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 15 showing the parties from both games nearby each other. Like a comparison between characters on different consoles in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it's a fun glimpse into past and present at the same time. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake party is walking away from Midgar in the background, while the party from Final Fantasy 15 watches them from their car, going the other way. The post is titled "FF7 remake part 2 leaked image."

While it's obviously created as a joke, and the juxtaposition is funny, it also doesn't feel out of place for either game. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake crew is set to encounter strange things outside of Midgar, and another adventuring party hardly seems like the strangest thing they would find. Meanwhile, the Final Fantasy 15 crew constantly sees oddities on their road trip, to the point where few things about the FF7 Remake party would turn their heads for long. It's like finding a truck from FF7 Remake in real life: strange and cool, but not the weirdest thing in the world.

Comments on the Reddit post where the picture was uploaded are mostly positive and many are dedicated to speculating how the parties would interact. Most point out how Noctis and Cloud have traits in common and would likely see strange mirrors in each other.

Unfortunately, even with the timeline of Final Fantasy 7 uncertain in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, a full on crossover like this is unlikely to exist outside of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series. Still, with one of FF15's voice actors possibly being in another Final Fantasy project, it's possible a small piece of FF15 will be in future FF7 releases.
