The Epic Games Store adds two new games to its Free Games Promotion and reveals which title will replace the pair in a week's time.

Last week, the Epic Games Store ended its month-long run of free mystery games, switching out Control for Overcooked 2 and Hell is Other DemonsToday, both titles have been removed from the Free Games promotion, with Epic Games listing an additional pair of freebies in their place.

When heading over to the digital marketplace, players can now claim copies of Sonic Mania and Horizon Chase Turbo, with both games being available on the store until July 1 at 8:00 AM PT. After their stint on the Epic Games Store has concluded, the promotion will replace with them The Spectrum Retreat, which will be free until July 8.

As for today's titles, Sonic Mania is sure to be a huge draw. The retro-inspired Sonic game became the highest-rated iteration of the series in over a decade when it launched in 2017, paying homage to the Blue Blur's roots on the SEGA Genesis. The game wasn't developed by Sonic Team but instead a passionate crew of Sonic fan game developers and ROM hackers, the likes of which came together to celebrate the mascot's 25th anniversary. The title allows players to speed through a range of new 2D levels and remixed classics as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, revisiting some of the series' most notorious locales in an effort to defeat Eggman.

Horizon Chase Turboon the other hand, is an arcade racer that takes a lot of influence from old-school classics. The game comes loaded with 148 tracks to conquer with or without friends, offering couch co-op through split-screen play, while it adds a few mechanics to keep things interesting, such as a fuel gauge and upgrades. It was celebrated at release for its fun-focused racing and nostalgic callbacks to arcade classics.

Finally, The Spectrum Retreat will take players on a first-person, color-coded puzzle adventure when it shifts into the Free Games promotion next month. Originally dropping back in 2018, Dan Smith Studios' cryptic puzzler takes place in an art-deco hotel known as The Penrose, with players having to figure out why and how they arrived there. Discovering the mysteries of the visually distinct retreat is a big focus of the adventure, as well as solving the location's array of increasingly challenging puzzles.

Players looking for a few extra freebies can head over to the PlayStation Store to redeem their free PlayStation Plus games for June or check out this month's Xbox Live Games with Gold selections. Xbox Live Gold owners can also hop into a few additional games this weekend for no additional cost, with the list including Overwatch and Saints Row 4.
