Fortnite's chickens are required for a new quest, and this guide shows players where they can find the animals during Season 7.

Fortnite's chickens are once again the focus of a new weekly quest challenge. While the skittish fowl are fairly evenly scattered throughout the island, this guide shows players optimal places where they tend to spawn the most.

The animals of Epic Games' popular free-to-play title were first introduced during the "Primal" Season 6, adding chickens, boars, wolves, and even velociraptors. While the wild fauna's numbers have dwindled since the start of the current season, eradicating the raptors altogether, the remaining species have largely survived the turnover, particularly the chickens.

As mentioned before, chickens are spread out across various areas and POIs around the Fortnite map. However, as the map below reveals, players are most likely to encounter the birds on the northern half of the island. The highest concentration of poultry appear to be centered around, as well as just south of Corny Complex.

The named location has retained a farm-like atmosphere for the past couple of seasons, making sense of the high spawn rate in the area. Another grouping of chickens looks to be just east of Pleasant Park, along with a flock sandwiched between Believer Beach and Holly Hedges POIs.

Essentially the same quest of gliding with a chicken given late in Season 6, one of Fortnite Season 7's latest quests tasks players with gliding at least 20 meters using the animal. Although there are plenty of chickens to be found in the game, actually catching them is another story.

Chickens will make a run for it once they've realized they've been spotted. Their run speed nearly matches players, so the best method of grabbing a chicken is to just run directly towards it, making sure to immediately pick it up the second it's in range. After that, the quest becomes as simple as finding a high enough elevation to facilitate gliding 20 meters.

While chickens don't inherently attack players as the boars and wolves do, the birds are actually dangerous for a new, different reason. Fortnite just rolled out its 17.10 update patch this week which, among other things, introduces Aliens Parasites to the island.

These new creatures can attach themselves to any animal, chickens included. While having one attached grants players increased mobility akin to Season 5's low gravity crystals, the parasites steadily drain health over time. If players kill or grab a parasitic chicken, they risk dealing with the extraterrestrial leech themselves.

The new batch of Fortnite's Epic and Legendary Week 3 quests should keep most players busy well into the weekend. Those who've managed to clear most or all of the current challenges can always try getting abducted by the mothership, which holds a copiously filled loot dungeon.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
