The new Halloween Kills trailer continues Michael Myers's unrelenting bloody rampage and a desperate mission to stop him

The Halloween franchise, much like the infamous serial killer behind it, is not ready to die quite yet. Universal Studios released a brand new gory trailer for the twelfth installment in the Halloween franchise, Halloween Kills. With gruesome and brutal murders and an emotionless killing machine, what will the new film reveal about the masked horror?

The new trailer promises another bloody addition to the iconic slasher franchise. Halloween Kills picks up right where the last 2018 Halloween movie left off: in a roaring hell-like fire. Staying true to the countless Halloween films, Mike Myers refuses to transpire so easily and walks out of the flames to mercilessly murder seemingly anyone he comes in contact with.

Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Karen (Judie Greer) still do not give up and plan to finally kill Mike Myers. The trailer offers an interesting twist for fans: Myers is on a mission to return to his childhood home. The reason he wants to do this is unclear but could have something to do with Laurie's desperate pleas throughout the trailer that Myers is no longer human. The trailer also shows that Myers will be unmasked, but if the audience will see the killer's face is undetermined.

John Carpenter returns as executive producer of the gory film, with David Gordon Green also returning to direct the film (which he co-wrote with Scott Teems and Danny McBride). Green and creative director Jason Blum (known for working on numerous horror classics like the Paranormal Activity series), originally planned to shoot the 2018 Halloween film with a sequel back to back, but waited for the reception of the 2018 film first. After Halloween performed far better than expected, the pair set Halloween Kills into motion.  Another Halloween film, titled Halloween Ends is also set to release in October of 2022, although there is little information about the proposed third installment.

The Halloween franchise continues to keep its legacy of staying consistent with its story and reliving the horror of the first film that debuted in 1978. Halloween is one of the most recognizable and beloved horror movie series in America. The campy and over-the-top nature of the films keeps fans coming back for more, even if some of them aren't as strong as others. With this new slate of films under the direction of Green and Blum, it might be true what they say: legends never die.

Halloween Kills will be coming to theaters on October 15th.
