While Monster Hunter hasn't always featured mounts, Monster Hunter Wilds' Seikret is the first mount in the series to achieve what it has long needed.

When Monster Hunter: World was released, it offered players a fresh take on the Monster Hunter formula with a much larger game world than any other entry before it. Following its release, it launched the Iceborne expansion, which enlarged that world even more. In response to that, Iceborne also featured the series' first mount in its Raider Rides mechanic, which allowed players to more quickly travel from one point to another. Monster Hunter Rise then improved that feature by giving players Palamutes, unique companions who could be used to free-roam the game's zones faster than players could on foot. Now, Monster Hunter Wilds introduces players to the Seikret mount, which acts as a bridge between the mechanics of Iceborne's Raider Rides and Monster Hunter Rise's Palamutes.
