Ironhide is one of Optimus Prime's oldest and most loyal friends and has been by his side since the beginning of the Transformers franchise as part of his Autobots. He hasn't had a major role in the franchise with other characters such as Bumblebee, Jazz and Hot Rod taking up the second-in-command role.
