Kenice Mobley, a stand-up comedian hired as a writer for WWE's Monday Night Raw, said she didn't know much about the franchise going in.

WWE is the premiere performative wrestling organization in America, and within it, the possibilities are endless. Stand-up comedian Kenice Mobley recently appeared on the podcast Asian Not Asian earlier this month to discuss her new role writing scenarios for WWE, and she revealed intriguing information about the process, clarifying that she didn't know much about the franchise going in. However, according to Sean Ross Sap, Mobley's admission of being unfamiliar with the WWE has caused her to lose her position.

The WWE gig was set to be Kenice Mobley's big break into the industry. The comedian has a few credits as a producer, writer, production designer, set decorator, and other miscellaneous positions on various short films and television shows. She has also been featured on television shows such as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. According to Mobley, she explained to the hiring staff that she had a background in film production and comedy writing, and that was enough to get her hired for the job.

During the podcast, Mobley stated that she had been added to the Monday Night Raw team specifically. She was excited to be added to the team but had trouble remembering specific cast members, commenting that she wasn't sure if Bobby Lashley's last name was Lashley or Ashley. She had an idea of who Bobby Lashley was going into the job, however, but she hadn't realized he was the SmackDown champion until after she was hired. Sapp noted that his sources told him Mobley's dismissal was not due to fan outrage, but rather an internal conflict.

This is a turbulent time for WWE, as many wrestlers have recently been cut from the show including Aleister Black, Braun Strowman, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott, and Santana Garrett. It's also a promising time for the franchise, as many new wrestlers such as Xavier Woods and Roman Reigns are beginning to steadily rise in notoriety, though some have gained fame for the wrong reasons such as WWE star Paige.

With a plethora of WWE wrestlers competing in the rings of SmackDown and Raw comes a limitless variety of matchups that can appear onscreen at any moment. This means that writers need to be hired to imagine, plan, and create classic matchups that WWE fans could talk about for days to come.

Mobley may have been an inspired choice as a writer for WWE Raw, as having limited experience with the franchise could have allowed for a fresh perspective to be applied to the show's upcoming wrestling scenarios. Considering WWE's exciting roster of compelling characters, her voice may have added a new exciting angle to the proceedings.

WWE's Monday Night Raw airs on  Monday at 8 pm ET on the USA Network.
