Players will come across the Surprise Test side quest early on in Scarlet Nexus, and they can use this guide to find the necessary Vase Paws enemies.

Scarlet Nexus is an action RPG with a lauded combat system. While Scarlet Nexus does introduce some revolutionary battle elements to the genre, it still retains some tried-and-true RPG tropes. One familiar task that RPG fans will encounter throughout the game is side questing. Early on, players will come across a side quest that will require finding some Vase Paws locations in Scarlet Nexus. This guide will help players find a suitable location to complete the Surprise Test quest.

Because it might not take long to beat Scarlet Nexus, fans of the game's combat system will be eager to seek more opportunities to get into a fight. This is where side quests come in as a fun form of optional content. Obviously, side quests offer enticing rewards as well. Sometimes it might be useful consumable items, other times it could be a new weapon that players otherwise would have had to spend money on in the shop. Most notably, many side quests in Scarlet Nexus force the player to defeat enemies using a certain technique. These quests reward players with practical experience of mastering advanced gameplay techniques that are especially necessary for higher difficulties.

Vase Paws can be found in Kikuchiba. Specifically, the Mid-Level Shopping District and Upper-Level Construction Site areas. Players can fast travel throughout the segmented world of Scarlet Nexus and reach these areas instantly. Vase Paws are easy to spot by their distinctive design - a fancy flower vase sporting a bouquet of flowers and two shapely human legs wearing high heels. Upon fast traveling to the Mid-Level Shopping District, the first couple enemies that players will see are Fuel Pools. Proceeding past them, two Vase Paws will be the next encounter.

While players only need to defeat two Vase Paws for the Surprise Test quest, there's a catch. They must be defeated mid-air. Players can launch enemies into the air with a jump attack. From there, it's necessary to use mid-air attacks to finish the enemy, or else it won't count for the quest.

There are skills on the Brain Map which can enhance mid-air combos, making it easier to fulfill the requirements of the Surprise Test quest. Enhancing attacks by bonding with other Scarlet Nexus party members through the SAS system is another way to expedite the objective.

Upon completing the quest task, players can report their completion by toggling to the Story tab in the menu and cycling over to Quests. Once Surprise Test has been reported as complete, the player will receive three All: Light Jelly items as a reward. While this may seem like an underwhelming reward, the importance of healing items can not be understated. Prudent gamers will stock up on these kinds of items before challenging a difficult boss like Gunkin Perry in the main campaign of Scarlet Nexus.

Scarlet Nexus is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
