Palworld has always had this rivalry with Pokemon, which wassparkedalmost immediately after the former was announced. When comparing the two, it's clear that Pocketpair's creation has some glaring similarities to one of the biggest franchises owned by Nintendo. Regardless, Palworld has done a good job establishing an identity by having content not usually seen in the monster-capturing genre, making it clear that it's unique even when compared to its behemoth of a competitor. Even with that, the two continue to go against each other, and with one clearly having more advantage than the other, Pocketpair can choose to make a move so interesting and entertaining that it may help take some of the spotlight away from Pokemon.
