Square Enix announces that it's bringing the 3D remake of Trials of Mana, originally released in 2020, to mobile devices next month.

The Mana franchise is one of the most iconic series of JRPGs in video game history. Spinning out of Final Fantasy with Final Fantasy Adventure in 1991, the Mana franchise has four main releases and six spin-offs. The Mana series is seeing a modern-day resurgence with several remakes and ports, and Square Enix just announced he recently released Trials of Mana remake is coming to more platforms with a mobile port in 2021.

Square Enix recently held a special Mana, known in Japan Seiken Densetsu, 30th anniversary livestream. During the stream, Square Enix brought up the recent release of the Trials of Mana remake, which updated the 1995 JRPG with 3D graphics. The Trials of Mana remake released in April 2020 on PC, PS4, and Switch, but Square Enix's latest announcement is that Trials of Mana will now be coming to iOS and Android devices.

Mobile gamers won't have to wait long for Trials of Mana to arrive. Square Enix revealed the release date for Trials of Mana on iOS and Android devices to be July 15. The full game will cost $23.99, a great price compared to the full $49.99 Trials of Mana cost when it launched on PC, PS4, and Switch in 2020.

Square Enix will also be adding new functionality to Trials of Mana for its mobile port. The features are meant to make it simpler to play on mobile devices, either due to the limiting touch controls or because Square Enix thinks it's something mobile players would want. Square Enix is adding auto-targeting, auto-camera, and auto-battling so Trials of Mana players can automate some significant aspects of the game's mechanics.

Trials of Mana is a remake of the third release in the Mana franchise's main series. Players pick three of six different characters to be in their party and then go on an epic fantasy adventure. Rather than turn-based combat like the Final Fantasy franchise, Trials of Mana uses an action-RPG system with active combat.

This isn't the only Mana remake to get a new release in 2021, either. Legend of Mana has been remastered and re-released on Nintendo Switch just this past week, on June 24. Legend of Mana is a spin-off game rather than a main series title. However, at this rate it wouldn't be surprising to see Legend of Mana come to mobile in time, too.

Trials of Mana is available now on PC, PS4, and Switch, and releases July 15 on mobile devices.
