In Scarlet Nexus, enemies will drop items upon being defeated called "data," and there are some important uses for dropped enemy data.

Collecting the resources that enemies drop is crucial to gameplay in Scarlet Nexus. These drops are used for a number of exchanges at the shop, the most important being upgraded weapons and presents to increase bond levels with party members.

Players will notice that, upon defeating an enemy in Scarlet Nexus, they'll drop a number of items with strange names. They range from Suppressions, Ecologies, Records, and Analyses. The gamer refers to it as "data," but ultimately, the unique names behind enemy drops are mostly unimportant. Dropped items can be exchanged for a number of things at any shop, located next to Scarlet Nexus save point. If players wish to change up Yuito or Kasane's looks, they can tab over to the "Visuals" section and find cosmetic items such as bunny ears and cattails. But more importantly, players need the dropped items from enemies to upgrade weapons in Scarlet Nexus.

Upgrading weapons in Scarlet Nexus is a bit different than most other games. Weapons require collected resources dropped by enemies. Sometimes they'll be regularly dropped by easy enemies, while others only come from boss battles and will only drop once. One of the most common resources Yuito and his teammates will use is Battle Record B, a somewhat rare resource dropped by the Others at the Upper-Level Construction Site.

Once that data has been acquired, head over to the shop and tab to "Exchange," then "Weapons." Weapons are upgraded to the next level, for example, a Myoho Muramasa will be upgraded into a Myoho Muramasa Kai, but the base weapon will be "consumed" during the transaction. So players can't simply upgrade from the base level Myoho Muramasa to the Tsunetsugu Juzumaru, a mid-game weapon used by Yuito, because the Tsunetsugu Juzumaru requires the weapon one level beneath it, the Kunitsuna Onimaru.

Enemy drops can also be exchanged for gifts in Scarlet Nexus. Also under the "Exchange" tab, navigate over to "Presents." Here, these same resources can be used for presents, and while this may seem arbitrary, gift-giving helps increase bond levels in Scarlet Nexus, which leads to more skills and enhanced abilities shared between OSF recruits.

However, gifts often also require Environment data, which can be found lying around the world of Scarlet Nexus, and these are much rarer and sometimes can only be found once. Alternatively, gifts can sometimes be purchased with Kin or, very rarely, dropped by enemies.

Scarlet Nexus is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
